Tempted by this... UPDATE: It's home...

Steven you know I am a big fan of the C Class, and it's bloody gorgeous. I think the exterior and the gorgeous interior do it so much credit and you could not wish for a nicer more luxurious car.

Great discount too, and great spec.

I must admit I do like the multi spoke AMG wheels too, but the grey 5 star look just as good.

That lighting pack is amazing, and I'm sure the stereo is great as Porsche now offer it in their cars too....

All quite reassuring. Yes the discount I'm looking at will take a 39K car to 32K so 20% ish also (starts at 27K but AMG model adds 3K, then all the goodies take it up and up, but you only live once). It should help lessen the blow in the depreciation a bit. I think once the new engines arrive this year into the C class the discounts will dwindle perhaps, now seems like a good time to buy.

I'm still not going diesel, though, while there's a bit more punch, they're noisy IMHO and I don't do enough miles, making it likely blocked DPF time not to mention the diesel is 2.3K more. The petrol should only add to the refinement in terms of noise. Really looking forward to it, but I've decided to stick with my spec (360 camera) which means it will delay the order until April rather than March. I know I'd moan about not having it later on.

Just a shame they are not doing a C 400, or a C 350 diesel, as I'd be very tempted as they are both excellent engines.

Great cars guys, I'm very jealous. Not the best drivers cars, but it's the look and the interior which carries more weight for me.

There is a C400 or similar coming, petrol V6. I have the Z for driving though, the C class is for comfort, I don't need more than 182bhp for comfort.

Maybe, but isn't it so that you will want the power in the car you are driving at the time and not the one sitting in the garage at home :D

Nah, with the driving I do I hardly ever get to use the power of the Z so less power in another car won't be a big deal. I have to go out to find a road I can enjoy the power on, so I may as well keep the Z for that.

Tim, I think the refinement on the C Class is great, I was looking at them too, and drove one for a while....and also whilst my Z and SLK were in the bodyshop, I've had 3 Mercedes and the build quality is amazing.....and the refinement is superb. I love my old E89 and they are leaps ahead. Of Merc and Audi in driving ability, but interiors, Mercedes just use better quality materials.

Thanks Stark, think I will wander down to the MB dealership once the M135i hits 2 years, fancy something a little more grown up as I'm 50 this month

Tim.

I'm in the same boat as this. I had to drive the Z to work for a month waiting for the new MB. A very tight twisty A-road, very few over taking opportunities and a lot of lorries / trucks / tractors commuting down it. It was a very frustrating month, with the Z rarely getting above 4k revs. The C220 will be more than enough for me to enjoy the commute / long motorway hauls I'll do when I have to. When I get an opportunity (which is fairly regularly) for a more exciting journey the Z will be drafted in.

I am personally not keen on the way the new C class looks front or rear and I actually prefer the old model because I think they are trying too hard with it to look like the larger models that they do but with not much success, the interior on the other hand looks gorgeous.

I think it looks fantastic and at least they've tried where BMWs currently look quite safe imho. If it wasn't for the e85/e89 styling I'd have never bought a bmw as most of the range is just a bit plain.

Agree totally and recent BMW`s for me have been purely about the way they drive and not the way they look as pretty much all of them are pig ugly(E89 is very pretty to my eyes although I thought the E85 was ropey from the front).

I love the way a BMW drives and that is what lures me in but I have never looked at them and thought nice things about the way they look so I agree at least Merc have tried something a little different.

Still can't decide on the red or blue.

I think the blue sways me because when I originally saw the e89, it was deep sea blue with the pure white design interior. Lovely combo... That's what made me configure the w205 with blue and grey/black interior.

That red does look lovely tho. I'm a bit concerned its a fashion colour though and will age badly.

As a general rule of thumb, don't buy it if it's also I the same colour as any National Health appliance!
