Surprised with falling E89 used values

Something like that. Talked to engineers who develop BMW engines. Basically they say BMW push the oil drop windows to their limits in terms of distance, good for fleet sales which is where they make the most money. That said, long life oil is good for 2 years if you don't do the miles. So for best engine condition on distance, halve what ever the car is recommending for oil services intervals.

Drop the oil and change the filter yourself when you want and then have it serviced at the scheduled time if it's a keeper. That way it keeps the book up to date should you need to sell but you've got the satisfaction knowing it's had extra changes as well, this is what i'll be doing.

So where is the E89 market after 6 months & staring down the barrel of winter :?
I like this main dealer (non BMW ) 2009 3.5i on 63k with decent colour combo+spec for £15k /

35is prices still seem very strong compared to 35i, not sure why though. I didn't expect the gap to be more than 2-3k, in some instances it's 7-8k. Makes the 35i much better value proposition imho-they will probably go up in value soon!

My thoughts too providing good spec & reasonable miles , not up by much but could be depreciation proof motoring for 12 months bought wisely ?
I am tempted with them

This 61 plate 41k Msport 2.3i in white also looks tremendous value at £13500
Pretty sure this is a forum members car

Trouble is if you buy a middle 60's-70k mile one, which I fully agree look a good buy, put 15-20k on it, surely you're going to struggle to move it on?

Id only buy a 60k E89 knowing a likely 5k would go on the clock , not daily drive mileage

When I started looking for an e89 I found good condition low mileage cars and history went very quickly and we're bit more expensive. I wanted one with sub 40k on the clock. I missed out on about 4 cars before getting mine.

I also noticed that models without the sports seats seemed to hang around a lot longer seems it's like the e85 where certain options are very much must have.

Personally I'm not to worried about the depreciation you get a lot of car for the money. Its really going to depend how long you want to keep it though. I plan on keeping mine atleast 3 years.

I think they are great used buys at the moment. I have had so many nice comments since getting one. The interior makes it such a special car to get into after a hard day. Really need to get my avatar updated and post some more pics of mine.

^this. Just buy a zed and drive it as much as possible. Own it until you desire something else. Then sell it. Its not an investment.

if you buy one and its got higher than normal miles and you are a low miles user - the car soon becomes a "normal" miles car!

It's gone, I was interested in this. Chap put a deposit down before even seeing the car (no surprises at that price!).

Hope he checked the rear wheels for cracks!!

My 23i is an 11 plate with 31k. Paid £17k, but I keep cars for at least 4 years, sometimes longer (especially this one 8) ), and only do about 7k miles a year. Also, it is EXACTLY what I wanted.
My last car, that I owned for 5 years, was an A4 Cabriolet, low mileage, that cost about £13k.
As someone said, you get a hell of a lot of car for your money with a Z4!

Black 3.5I manual / £12250
Ok its covered 93k , wheels need upgrading & not the best of specs (+ non sport seats) but what do you want for £12k :o

You'd be far better off with a 25k mile fully loaded E85 3.0si imho, supposing you can find one of course. Can't see the point in buying a mega high mile E89 with low spec, it's going to take some shifting over 100k unless you're going to keep it for the long haul.
