Interestingly, CJ, i've gone the other way. Absolutely loved it on release, sounds incredible, sat in it - totally wanted one.

Now the more i hear them, it seems too loud? like OTT almost intentionally amplified (i mean.. it is.. but it's not meant to seem that way). And there's quite a few on the road already :( I also don't like that you can buy one for 100k, which is what i'd like (v8) but it's in the same category as one almost half the price.

Yes but come on CJ....it's the only proper Roadster model in the list on a Forum made up of 95% roadster owners! It won't be up there in the biggest surprises of all time will it?

That made me smile. Of course roadster owners like roadsters, but many of the listed models are also roadsters, Porsche, Audi, etc. and forum folks are more than capable of making sensible votes on cars :)

In 2013 & 14 when I made posts about F types they are not that well liked by many. Overpriced. Old mans car, etc. etc and here we see it the clear favourite and not by a slim margin.

Give it another year and you'll be out of denial about Jaguars and may even fancy the Coupe R :)
(And you know I'm only teasing you)

I thought it might... :) oh and I knew you'd come back!! :D

Funnily enough, I do like the F-Type Coupe. But I have two issues - 1) The noise. Some like it, I don't. It sounds contrived, all fake engineered burps and belches. Not my thing at all. I prefer an Italian supercar style high-pitched stratospheric revs or a V10/12 sound. 2) The design - it's ok but I find it a bit dull and uninteresting - all classic, rounded smooth edges and "safe".

The Roadster doesn't do anything for me at all but then I'm not really a Roadster type person now. Been there and done it.

I've always said how pleased i am that Jag are on a renaissance now though and with a real quality line-up developing. :)

Funny that the very noise we now see as fake was put in by Jag as that's what customers want and demanded. Same as Astons which open the exhaust on start up to make a noise. The shape was driven by need for a V8 else it would not sell in the U.S.

We do the same with our Zeds adding sound generators, quad exhausts, silencer bypass pipes, cat deletes, etc.
Perhaps all a reaction to being unable to really use the cars.

That said I think I'll drop down to Puerto Banus this afternoon and listen to some of the exotica we both love :)

Will be interesting to see if we see the I sold my Zed for an F-type thred as these cars get to three years old . It's the clear winner although the Porsche fans vote is split . Looked on How many left and Jaguar F a Type numbers registered is a linear and steep curve - it's a great result for them. Would love to see them back at LeMans up against Porsche and Audi .

BMW have done quite poorly in this poll - perhaps the M6 should have been listed . Interesting that the R8 did so poorly .

Personally I'm put of by recent experience of JLR dealerships - I find porsche as a manufacturer have the QA/QC of their dealers under tighter control - locally it's the same chain who have the JLR franchise and Porsche and there is a marked difference in terms of how you are treated.

I'm thinking of running similar polls to generate some debate but I'm thinking in future to pick from the Autocar top 5 list for the Genre to stop any personal blinker ing coming into it- missed the Evora and the Boxter S out of this list.

The Exige goes against the Boxter Spyder at a later date .

I looked at the R8 when my Audi was in for service. First time I had been in it, it left me stone cold. It was just an inflated TT in looks and feel and a price tag of £100k it was not super car material.

That sounds like a very good way of spending the afternoon. Far better than preparing Board Reports which is what I'll be doing!

And the irony is that of the type of car listed so far on a quiet Wednesday the only one parked on the harbour front is an E89..

I have to finish a beer then will take a stroll to Cohen & Cunild where a huayra is listed for €1.5m

Board reports are a long way from my mind today.

As an aside this has been a great thread.

Dis someone mention .... Huayra

Sorry can't help myself ...

Ive enjoyed this thred .. great to get the wide ranging views of fellow petrolheads ... we will tee up the XE soon CJ ...
