SOLD 2007 E85 2.5si Manual Sport Roadster Saphire Black ‘Project Spa’

I think you need to be realistic about the impact of mileage on your ability to recover cost on this car. I know the N52 is capable of interstellar mileage, but 140k+ is a blocker for most buyers. If the car’s a bargain, someone on the forum would have bought it now.

That said, I agree your best course of action is to advertise it elsewhere, and give yourself the headroom to do a deal.

Thanks for the feedback. I do understand 140k+ can be a blocker, but I also know how much money has gone into getting it sorted, way more than the asking price. Still hoping we can keep this as a forum car...

You need to get it advertised on EBay for a 19.99 classified ad and get it on FB as well. You may well get some time wasters but it’ll go and you might have to lower your expectations on price because of the mileage. As has been said already if it looked a good deal it would’ve sold on the Forum. I recently sold my 35i MSport via FB with no interest at all on the Forum other than some very nice comments. Good luck

I'd made an earlier enquiry about the car and have read the extensive other thread about work done. Have you been using it since, or has it been garaged etc.?

Also, just to check, you mention in the other thread that some new issues occurred as a result of a damaged oil filter basket. When they replaced the basket, did they also replace the filter cap? I'm assuming so, although it's not specifically mentioned.

I understand that, if the basket fails, the oil filter cartridge may not seat correctly - so, potential for unfiltered oil to bypass the filter or restrict oil flow. An issue is that both of these can lead to low oil pressure (which we know about) but also engine damage, as you might expect, which is an unknown quantity at this point, if it has indeed manifested as result of the issue.

I believe they replaced that as well - all of this then improved the oil pressure which in turn sorted the VANOS error code. Regarding engine damage, it is an unknown at the moment. All I can say is it drives better than at any other time in my ownership.

Afternoon Wayo, I'm potentially interested in 'Project Spa' I've sent you a private message but not 100% its gone through?
Thanks

I will be gutted when collected on Saturday, but going to a good home. Looking forward to forum updates from new owner…

I am sad it had to go, but glad it is staying on the forum.

It was a great chapter for both the car and you Mark. If you hadn't wanted to do the Spa trip it would be in a thousand pieces by now.
Plus, your commitment to bottoming out the engine issue not only made a good car better, but also proved a valuable, though expensive, education for the rest of us.

You're always welcome to drop in and say hi, both on this forum and whenever you're up in Norfolk.

Thanks for the feedback Martin and all your support. It wouldn’t have happened without you!

Just as long as you don't get another Tesla as your daily. :poke: :D

After months of looking for the right car, I'm pleased to say I will soon be the proud owner of 'Project Spa' I can't wait to pick it up on the weekend. Thanks to all the forum members who have given me advice along the way.
