Sadly selling ‘Project Spa’ after creating some great memories in it! This is very much a forum car, having been purchased through the forum in Feb 2024 for the sole purpose of driving to the F1 in Spa, via the Nürburgring. I have thoroughly enjoyed ownership, so much so that I fell in love with driving again, resulting in me selling my Tesla and using the Z4 as my daily driver!

After lots of blood, sweat and tears (and swearing) by enuff_zed, the famous CEO of Norfolk Zed Rescue, I received the car in April 2024 after blowing the budget on some essential work as detailed below:

MARCH 2024 – 135,880 miles
• Steering angle sensor recalibrated
• VANOS solenoids removed, cleaned and tested (all ok)
• VANOS non-returned valves removed, and filters cleaned
• Top cover removed and degreased
• Eccentric Cam Sensor replaced
• Top cover refitted with new gasket
• New VVT motor gasket fitted
• New ECS seals fitted
• Cam position sensors replaced
• Oil filter and seals replaced
• Oil flushed
• Oil changed
• Oil cooler gasket replaced
• Air filter checked – as new
• Boot rams replaced
• Roof coded to open and close on the key
• Dipped beam coded on with ignition
• Roof motor moved to boot

APRIL 2024 – 135,917 miles
• ABS unit removed and sent to ECU Testing for repair and refitted
• Brake fluid replaced
• Replaced water pump and thermostat (Pierburg & Mahle)
• Advisory free MOT (16/04/2024)

MAY – JULY 2024 (136,117 -138,500 miles)
• Replaced bonnet badge (OEM)
• Replaced front grills with matt black version (original kept)
• Replaced third brake light with red (clear version kept)
• Fitted 4 x Osram Nightbreaker bulbs to dipped and full beam
• Fitted Bosch wiper blades
• Road trip to Spa F1, via Nürburgring with no issues and lots of smiles!

JANUARY-MARCH 2025
• Work carried out by Garage Bavarian in Frome, Somerset (total cost £1.8k):
• Full diagnostics check
• Timing checked – all ok (including chain)
• Intake and exhaust camshaft compression rings are both okay and no damage to either bearing bank
• Valve cover replaced (including PCV) to cure rough idle / ‘hunting’ on startup and slight oil leak
• Cam Position Sensors replaced for OEM parts
• Eccentric Cam Sensor replaced for OEM parts
• Cleaned VANOS solenoids
• Oil flush, replacement oil and replace oil filter basket to improve oil pressure and therefore cure VANOS error code
o Oil pressure improved from 1.5 bar to 2.4
• Front lower control arms replaced due to excessive play
• Air conditioning re-gassed
• O/S/R handbrake adjusted as overtightened

Original 108’s in need of some TLC
Decent tread on rear; brand new tyres on front (budget)

This car has had no expense spared, with all work carried out by enuff_zed (forum legend) and Garage Bavarian more recently, resulting in an error code free dash. Drives lovely with a great soundtrack from that 2.5 straight 6!

Only advertised on the forum for now and I am sure a deal can be done with a forum member. It would be great to see someone continue to enjoy this as much as I have!

£3,600 ono

Any questions/thoughts/feedback/support welcomed!

Price reduced
Honestly cannot believe you had to!

Never mind - I guess it is the sign of the Z4 market.

It has only been 4 days! Give it a chance.

Were you expecting someone to come and bite your hand off in 4 hours as it is such a 'legendary' car?

Not all, but I realised I probably priced it too high in the first place, looking at others for sale on here

MOT passed today - expires 15th April 2026. Needed a front tyre due to a nail found, so changed both front tyres. A couple of advisories:

- Number plate bulb
- Brake pipe corroded (rear)
- Brake hose slightly deteriorated (front)

Will look to get these done soon if possible

:D

Hi - may I ask what prompted all the work earlier this year -- warning lights/engine problems etc.?

Read this thread:
https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=145979

Yep - warning light with error code stating VANOS issues, as per the thread Martin mentioned above. While the car was in the garage, they did a few other jobs that they identified

No real interest at all, unfortunately! I may need to start advertising elsewhere as only on here at the moment. Still using it daily though so not all bad!

If you advertise elsewhere I'd start with the price back up again.

Thanks Martin - good tip
