Software update available.

Yes temp probably not got above 10 degrees TBH. I’m going to mention it when it’s in for a service next week as like Sladester, I’ve never been prompted from the car after uploading. Always has done previously.

I have downloaded the upgrade twice and it has still not installed. The first download expired and I had to download it again. I then found out that outside temperature needed to be above 10C. Where I live it has not been above single digit temperature for months. Likewise, my car is due its service and MOT next month so I will probably just wait until then to have the software upgrade installed. :driving:

As I posted before, I had the same issues but was advised by the dealership to do the following

create a totally new account as if you had just bought the car and delete the App and downloaded it again. Total restart.

Did as advised and it worked

I too have downloaded the update twice and yet again it won't install.

Before I go to the extreme of creating a new account and starting from scratch is there anything in this update that people feel is worthwhile messing about for?

There’s nothing too significant from what I can see and won’t be setting up a new account to get it.
I’ll mention it next week when it’s in for service and hopefully they’ll get it updated.

Now at the dealer and the battery was bad. This will be replaced under warranty and the update will be done by the dealer.

Well even the dealer can’t update the car. So I have leave the car at the dealer so they can fix it. Getting an other car to get home. :o

Does anyone know what the warranty situation is with the remote update feature?

My G29 is out of warranty so where do I stand if BMW send down a software update that fails to install or causes issues out of the warranty period?

Can I take my near 4 year old G29 into the local BMW garage and get them to perform the update free of charge?

My replacement car. Must say it’s great.

Took car in for first MOT to dealer. 2 weeks left on new warranty. Low battery warning on stopping car which I mentioned to dealer, glad I did. Seems that it’s the upgrade that’s failed and drained the battery. Hopefully not trashed it. I have been told that if the battery is knackered and is not covered by warranty but as it’s a failed download I won’t be expected to pay for it. Will see what happens when I collect tomorrow.

Car is still at the dealer for the update problem. Today I was called by the dealer with the announcement that the instrument pannel (counters) in the dashboard must be replaced. So it has been ordered and will probably arrive tomorrow.
Luckily everything is under warranty.

Yesterday I was able to pick up my Z4 again at the dealer. The latest software is now in the car, 11/2022/68. Also had a service, spark plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin filter replaced for € 750, - at 33800km

Under warranty, the battery has been replaced and the display of the counters. This is because the update did not want to load completely.

Got car back with Battery charged and faults cleared. Dealer did not carry out update surprisingly never mentioned it. I sat in the car when I got home and made sure it went in ok. All good now

New software update appeared today 26/02/23. Downloaded to phone okay, just need to upload to car next time I use it. Don’t think there is anything major in it.

Nothing in the notes that actually tell me what the update does. I don’t have digital key so makes no difference to me, but for those who do have it, you can now have your phone as a proper key where you walk up to the car and it will unlock.
