Software update available.

I have a CTEK also but never needed it with the G29.

If I connect it up, will it show the state of the battery?

Thanks, looks like a job for tomorrow if the option to install hasn’t changed.

The CTEK hasn’t even been out of the box, so will have to have a look on YouTube how to use it.

Just checked and the battery charge was indeed low, now has been on charge for 4 hours and counting and hopefully this will resolve the issues.

Does anyone know if there is a feature on the car that you can check the charge level before it gets to zero?

A 150 round trip to York Christmas market before Christmas and a 200 mile trip to Birmingham Airport just after, should keep it topped up, but lesson learned. During winter months and normally short journeys, will be putting it on trickle charge once a month.

I got it down to the app no problem. Been out for about 6 30 mile runs but does not seem to be downloading to car. Any ideas or just go to dealer.

I always top my battery up with a charger before I attempt an update, with good results. I just did the update yesterday, downloaded it to my phone, drove to the AFB Commissary around 30 miles away. At that point, I got a message it was ready to install. I locked the car, drove in and did my shopping. When I returned to the car, it notified me the update was complete.

As previously covered, what worked for me was deleting the App on the phone, deleting the ID in the car and start all over again with both as if a new owner. That what was suggested by the dealership and it worked within a few minutes.

Did you made a new account or just logged in with the one you already had made?

This question because the car won't update the software, even when i had it fully charged up with the CTEC.
Then a one hour drive still no update.

Mine took a couple of days after fully charging with the CTEK before. starting the update.

I contacted connected drive from bmw today. They told me that while downloading to the car something was wrong with the battery, the voltage would have been too low. This caused an error and it must be resolved. I will be informed about how and what.

I created a totally new account as if you had just bought the car and deleted the App and downloaded it again. Total restart

Looks like screen mirroring was removed with the update. Only option left is Mirroring using Miracast, which is useless.

I knew it wasn't worth updating. I hate the fact that manufacturer is controling options and apps for the driver.

My BMW app informed me that the update (which hadn't installed in the 7-8 weeks it'd been available) had 'expired' which resulted in my G29 informing me that it was now 'up to date'. Less than an hour later my car indicated that an update was available which I proceeded, again, to download using my mobile. Will it install second time around? Who knows?

Yes, same here. Better luck second time around. :driving:

I’ve had the same issue. Downloaded the latest update to and been waiting for the notification from the car but not yet arrived. Had a message it will expire soon but not had the notification in the car yet? Booked in for its service on 22 February so was going to mention it to the Service Department then.

On another point, I’m on Service Inclusive and it will have the oil changed and vehicle check (24200 miles) as these now required. Info in car also advises about pollen filter, air filter and spark plugs being changed but as an advisory and not as required? Do you think these should be done as part of the Service Pack?

Yeah mine expired according to the app. Never promoted for an install annoyingly. Even though used regularly for 45 minute journeys, can’t imagine the battery voltage was low

What was the outside temperature? I read somewhere that it needed to be above 10C to install. :driving:
