So that is why you leave dsc on!

Yer, nothing damaged except my pride. Best way I guess. Lesson learned. I genuinely thought it was going to be very expensive.

Quattro to M powered rwd is a steep learning curve.

It's still bloody cold, I wouldn't take it off until the weather and tyres are warmer. If it has caught you out I really recommend a car limits day with Andy Walsh, he'll show you how to control the car with it off and exploit the power safely. Plus it's a lot of fun!

I was driving my Ford Focus very slowly around a u-turn at Oxford station on Saturday and for a moment I thought I was in the Z4 with DSC off as I lost control of the back and ended up facing the wrong way. Think I must have hit a diesel spill somewhere...

Did the same thing a couple of weeks back in the wet, was a brown pants moment when it let go the way it did. I manged to catch it just, so I didnt spin round but the car was broad side for what felt like forever before it came to a stop. Dont think il be turning it off again soon, not until a dry warm day anyway.

If you leave it on, how the hell do you lot drift? The way forward is looking out of the side window

I gotta admit, mine's only the 3.0 and not the ///M but she's a little sod to tame. Got her under control now though.

All I can say is with the M (equipped with an LSD) you do have to be pretty dumb or pretty brave (or a measure of both :D) to really lose it. Obviously a big throttle opening in the cold or wet is going to cause some trouble as is heavy cornering, clutch kicking or heavy lifting off. Common sense prevails! :driving:

Pretty dumb

check

A big throttle opening

check

in the cold

6 degrees so I guess...check

heavy cornering

check

In my head it was meant to go like this:

Turn in to wide private road, applying light throttle on entry to lose traction on rear, slight opposite lock, smile.... continue on journey.

In the real world

Turn in, apply light throttle, back end swings around like a bloody anvil, front swings very quickly towards opposite kerb, heavy opposite lock and corrected it, but then swung the opposite way. Stopped facing the offside kerb straggling both sides of the road.
It was all done at very very low speed so it shocked me how fast and how far it went.

Talent bag = empty
Pants = full
