So how do you get away quick ?

I don't think the M is hard to get off the line at all really. The secret is not too many revs and not too little. Too little and it bogs down, too many and you get lots of wheel spin and a smelly clutch. Keep it somewhere around 2-2.5k and it should take off like a scolded cat.

Oh and if you've not been higher than 5,000 then you are really missing out (on noise and an awful lot of horsepower too). No wonder that Audi TT felt quicker off the line!! :D

I had a bit of a launch tonight.....traction off is a must by the way...

It suprised the 335i as i got the better of him.....

Thats the last one though..car has gone in the morning...

What's replacing it Gary?

Hi Gareth. Pleased it has a new home and you can try your next toy! Do you think you will have it back again or is this time for good

Hope it went to someone on here who will take a good care of it as you did.

I'm quite sad myself Pete...

Drinking this whiskey doesn't help!!

Non forum member bought the car, he seen it and fell in love... It's been an awesome car for me, I will be sad to see it go..

What's next??

Drove a 370z, a Cayman S and an Audi S5 this week... Hmm

Got to look at another car on Sunday..

2009 987 2.9..had the later engine, not the early one that blows up

Was a good car and I cannot really fault it... Only the lack of pace was against it..

370z was ok... But road noise was bad... On 4 yr old runflats so no suprises really. Seems a bargain for low miles and 4 yr old car

Spent a few hours on my own with the car today & it brought results & reward :driving:
Sport button on is a must for the quick getaway (didn't touch the TC )
Without any noise dramas , no high revving/dropping of clutch , just away in 1st & straight into 2nd then hard down on pedal = horizon approaches at high speed

I have discovered today that CDV removal gives that little bit extra help too :D

DSC off comes next. Get it right and you'll get away even faster, get it wrong and there'll be smokey fish tailing until you back off or change up :D

It's transformed low speed shifts from first to second

Brake fluid tastes s**t though

Ye9, you spat it out like you'd lost a bet in a sailor's bar...

Just took Wee Bing out... Traffic lights on a dual carriageway, sport on, DSC off, 2K RPM, perfect getaway - as verified by my passenger, "Well that was fun" with a big grin :driving: :D

I've got half an hour of stop start dual carriageway traffic lights late tonight. Hoping a Sunday night of the Bank Hols it'll be quiet. Roof down and I'll try a few runs. I still don't like the sport button - I'm more tempted by that DSC button but as someone said - am neither brave enough not competent enough.

I'd try it on a track or large open space.

In a straight line and dry conditions DSC off is fine - the LSD is very good, but you don't realise how good until you switch the electronics off. At speed on a proper hoon, different story of course.

Seems to be the best way, also good to get the car momentarily moving before fully pressing the loud pedal, may need to modulate to get the best traction, similar to how launch control would work I guess. Worked best for me during the vmax runs I did.
