Jasey, pussy :P :D

You're a man. Men press buttons, because buttons. Do it
Sod it - I'll give it a go.

Might even take a vid.

Quiet straight road with no hedges or walls - what could possibly go wrong. Here, hold my beer a minute

Another thing I have found is that Sport pressed and DSC off helps a lot, both in getting away and actually driving. The car feels totally different, and I'm nowhere brave - or competent - enough to press the DSC on a hoon, but I've been using Sport all the time recently, even in traffic, and it's surprising how quickly you get used to it and modulate your control of the throttle. Weirdly it feels more involving as I am taking much more care and being much more deliberate in applying the power. Course I could just be imagining it

Happens all the time in the car :D

Oh, and that wasn't an earthquake last night in Kent

Get a 35iS.

Sport+ Floor it - Hold onto your face.

I still haven't felt the need to even attempt launch control - I honestly think I would s**t myself :D

Brilliant !

Having read this thread that Sepang M Roadster now seems to be average by Forum thrashing standards! :o

I think that the secret is to not rush. Get it into 2nd fairly early and then let it go.

I wonder if starting off in second would achieve a quicker time?

What happened, did you fall out of bed...?

Not this time, no. You're getting confused with the one a few years back :D

Just back to the video about traction control off .. made me laugh 'personally i drive with it fully off all the time because i <REMIX> want to skid off the road when i reach the ability of my driving'

I don't agree, I think it leaves the line extremely quickly and leaves almost everything standing, but there is a technique that takes practice. The key is neither to bog down nor spin the wheels. Try blipping the throttle with the clutch disengaged to momentarily raise the engine speed to 3-4000 rpm. Then engage the clutch and floor the throttle as the revs are on the way back down. Aim to fully engage the clutch as the revs fall past around 2500rpm and don't give it the beans until the clutch has fully engaged. On a dry, quality surface with warm, decent tyres you should be punched in the back of the head by the head restraint and not see a significant reduction in the rate of acceleration until you hit the red line.

Doesnt this only confirm my thoughts :? for 99% of owners 99% of the time there are other cars that would be away far easier & quicker .
When i changed from a tip 964 to a manual 996 the figures said the water cooled was the quicker car but in action i found the tip felt far sharper from the off with the foot buried
Im also going to upset many again by saying after the 900 miles just covered i never felt the need to get anywhere close to the rev limiter :o
Ah ok. In that case, in your hands you Audi might be quicker but probably not in mine (not that I'm a driving God, just that I've practised getting off the line briskly).

And - he got away quick as per the thread title, so perfectly on topic

On the topic of pulling away fast.. i mean, i can't actually remember the last time 0-60 was something i attempted, but definitely flipping first->second or second->third gear, there is a specific method/skill to nailing it.

Sure, change gear 'normally' as quick as you can and the car is all good.. but if you figure out the proper technique for the car you'll notice the difference. It's a smooth transition, and there's a much smaller deadspot in power during the change - also it doesn't knacker the clutch as per bad tekkers might. I think when you first figure it out, you get that 'ive just driven the Z4M for the first time' grin again temporarily :p
