So are you going to go out once the lock down starts to be lifted?
The sad fact is we really don't know much about this Virus. Yes much has been learned over the past months but still lot to learn. Every day we hear of new messages / risks do's don'ts etc. For example why do some people get cancer others not? Why does a healthy person who is active , not overweight etc dies of heartache? And now in the US our president has tested positive. Someone who we are lead to believe is tested almost everyday and has tighter security and protected better than anyone in the US. I am fortunate to be able to work from home and have been since March, However, do venture out for grocery's once or twice month. But in the last few months as they have opened a little where I live. I got out once week to local pub for a pint and food. But then back home. At 63 still careful. All local establishments here 25% occupancy or less and all employees / patrons must wear masks unless eating / drinking. I hope that we will soon get a vaccine that is effective for all. So we can all get back to a "normal" life. Until then will be taking local trips in my other car to smoke a cigar (as don't smoke in house or zed) just for a change of scenery. I say all will die. We don't live forever. The point that millions of people miss, is that Covid 19 passes very easily from person to person and somewhere down the line those 770 will infect more people and so on. We really do not know enough about this virus to say, "Oh, I have it but I feel fine." Millions of virus's lie dormant until the body is weakened, then they strike. The best place to catch any virus is in a hospital and many people admitted to hospital catch virus's, pneumonia and other killers when they had to have their broken leg treated or something unconnected to the virus that killed them.Z4C_er said:

I would love to do that, but cant see how its possible to maintain social distancing without sitting at different tables, which then means its not really dinner with friends. Or did you book a table for 6, but have the two chairs in the middle free?
Problem is with all the students getting it is they might be fine with it but how many will not follow the guidelines, I mean come on what do most students do, get hammered and jump into bed with one another, just about summed it up from what I can remember when I spent 4 years at Uni 
Fact is they pass it on and down the chain its the vulnerable who will most likely suffer.
Have to say the other day was the first time I've been in the shop since lockdown as had to go to a post office and the experience was far from pleasant to be honest, I would imagine sitting in a restaurant is on par with the unpleasantness, registering your details, plastic screens, always concious when someone coughs and sneezes on the next table and I don't trust people to follow the rules, I mean Gov't ministers and the like can't even manage it.

So, based on the fact that none of them knew they had it, even those that had a symptom of it didn’t think they had it, nor had sought any treatment
I’d imagine the death toll would be zero
Further to that I reckon if they lined all 60m of us up and tested all of us I reckon the number of positives would blow their minds.

Since the reopening of society in July, although the government has put in place various restrictions, such as the 2metre Rule and the wearing of face masks by the public in shops, the closer social interactions amongst families and friends has permitted a much slower spread of the virus throughout the population as a whole in an environment in which herd immunity can be created.

In the relatively short time that C-19 has been on the scene, the aetiology of this virus and treatments have been increasingly understood and I'm sure that the opening up of the universities for the cohort of 18 to 22 year olds has been a planned part of permitting viral spread amongst this group, knowing that the risk of serious infection and deaths will be minimal. This will be creating herd immunity amongst the section of the community which is perhaps the most mobile group within our society and most resent having their "wings clipped" by lockdowns.
Likewise, the return of children to schools will have a similar effect on viral spread amongst the 0-18 year olds and the parents (16- 55 year olds). Therefore, the viral spread amongst the general population aged under 55 is permitting 79.44% (the least vulnerable) of the UK population to create herd immunity.
The fact that our Nightingale hospitals have not been used and that today, there are only 2,882 patients hospitalised with C-19 with just 371 patients in ICU without there being a national lockdown, IMO, proves that the strategy that has been followed in the UK has been effective.
