Smoke coming from engine

Hi everyone

Just started my 3.0 up for the first time in 2 weeks and it’s smoking from the left hand side of the engine, the servi and windscreen washer side.

There car has been sat in my storage unit and the last thing I did was change the oil and oil filter. I don’t recall any spillages when I did that but perhaps a small bit of residue when removing the oil filter.

Is there any common faults that cause this or could it be just residue oil ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Due to tax and insure it and drive it home from my storage on Wednesday so got tomorrow to check for any faults

More than likely the top cover gasket leaking onto the exhaust manifold.
It'll burn off quite quick but you need to get a new gasket on there when you can.

Yeah thought so, would it be worth taking off the plastic cover off the head?
Just the trim cover? No that won't make any difference.
I'ts just a small seep onto the manifold.
You need to buy a gasket set that includes new washers for the fasteners, and then swap it over when you get some time. It's more an irritation than anything else.

If it wasn't doing it before you changed oil and filter I would most likely think it was a small amount of oil running down from the filler onto the exhaust manifold. Easily done and would soon stop smoking although you might notice a small from burning oil. If it still does it after a run then likely to be gasket related.

thanks guys for the above. Has anyone got a link to a thread on here where someone has done a top cover gasket? Most likely do it myself
