SmartTop alternative

Keyless start was not available I think when I bought mine in 2014, hence it has comfort access which is all part of the comfort package but does not include the keyless entry.

Comfort pack and comfort access are two different things.

Looks like I am mixing up comfort pack with comfort access. Either way, wouldn't want it.

Smart Top now fitted, wing mirrors now closing on the key, which is really good :D

One touch roof operation functioning off the internal buttons :)

The key fob function is not working so will be hooking up the laptop tomorrow to check that out - quick question, if the battery is struggling will this stop the roof woking off the key?

Cheers

That could well be the problem as it won’t work off the key if the battery is discharged without the smart top

Cheers Chippie,

The car starts and runs fine, however, as the car is not used regularly the old car on ramp symbol appears every now and then especially on dark cold morning, today when I went out at 11 the symbol was not showing.

May put the batt charger on it tomorrow if it is fine (no garage) and see if I can boost the battery

Me neither, I use one of these outdoor boxes for Xmas decorations, of course depends where the car is in proximity to the house, not going to work if you live three floors up

I think I can get one of them, can get very close to the sun room / study and run a cable out, do you use a trickle charger on the car and leave it running all the time?

Yes, it’s on a CTEK when I’m not using it as it’s not my daily.

I got a mate to pop an outdoor waterproof socket outside so I don’t need to have a window open. He just ran a spur through the wall off of the existing sockets.

I use an outside extension cable into the box, plug the charger into the box it and it sits under the bonnet. You can just see the charger cable at 10 o’clock on the tyre. The charger sits in the void behind the headlight so the car is all locked up, alarmed and secure

Cheers Andy, will run a similar set up as mine is not used daily, maybe once or twice a week at most and then only short runs at the moment.

My smart charger goes on a maintenance charge at the end of October until April and sits at 13.6volts

The mains cable goes under the bonnet in the headlight area and the charger and LoVo cables connect away from the wet without a problem.

Going to get this sorted, my boy can rig the electrics and get most of the bits from work :D

 Definitely cheaper than a battery replacement, especially with the added bonus of no electrician fees for parts or labour

Certainly is cheaper than a battery and can be used for the other vehicles plus garden equipment

Did you sort it? I recently installed Smarttop, the setting for remote is:

I'm not sure the 3 seconds is accurate, but that setting works. It does surprise passers by naturally

Does anyone sometimes get the alarm going off when putting the roof up on the remote with this.. Ive had it a few times but not sure if I'm holding the button down too long or something

It is an odd one.. doesn't happen every time so im wondering if im setting off some kind of panic system by holding the button too long. I think some kind of panic alert can be coded in and I've wondered if ive triggered that as the alarm shouldn't be live at that point i think
