So the policeman had no valid reason to prevent Mr Chabbott going about his business?

If the cop was not yet in the process of writing the ticket and was not near your car. Then no.

It is generally understood by most folks in the civilized world. That if a cop is at your car writing a ticket. 1, You inquire politely as to what the issue is. and try and sweet talk your way out of it. 2, If you feel that the cop has in fact slighted you and was unjustly giving you a ticket. Take that ticket and go to court. Taking the parking valet with you as a witness. Although the video clearly shows no front number plate. So. there's no question the cop had a valid reason to issue a ticket for improper reg.
But the minute you get into your car while the cop is looking into your front window yelling stop 5 times and continue to try and drive away. That changes the game. And will clearly give the advantage to the cop.

he clearly hasn't earned the right to own that car, if it was paid for by his own doing he would have the common sense to at least ask the copper what the ticket was for etc
think the cop was doing his job, obviously just pissed off his foot has got ran over and how rude the guy was, would have still taken his GF out for lunch though

A policeman asks you to stop, regardless of whether or not he is a facist bully, unless your a complete moron You stop, if he had done as he was told none of it would have happened. he should consider himself lucky he wasn't pistol whipped.
we are very lucky in this country because we know our police have their hands tied by the easily offended do-gooder minority which has lead to a huge decay in respect for others rights because arseholes know they can get away with it. but I think even our biggest morons would think twice before messing with any cop in the US.
Which leaves me thinking this particular dumbf**ks own arrogance got him what he deserved.
