Serious use of excessive police force...

The Ferrari driver could clearly see that the cop was standing against/in front of the car. Attempting to drive off is probably going to get him charged with reckless endangerment in addition assaulting an officer, contempt of law, and whatever the relatively piddling parking violation was that he would have had to deal with if he's just behaved reasonably in the first place.

Reckless endangerment: A person commits the crime of reckless endangerment if the person recklessly engages in conduct which creates a substantial risk of serious physical injury to another person. “Reckless” conduct is conduct that exhibits a culpable disregard of foreseeable consequences to others from the act or omission involved. The accused need not intentionally cause a resulting harm. The ultimate question is whether, under all the circumstances, the accused’s conduct was of that heedless nature that made it actually or imminently dangerous to the rights or safety of others.

Both vids were gr8. Guy in the first was a rich arse but the cop was almost inviting it by is poor positioning. Felt sorry for the poor taxi driver whose door took a bashing.

Actually I think the cop? (or is he a traffic warden) was in the wrong.

If he wanted to stop the car driving off - he could simply have stood in front of it.
But no - he sidles up against it, moving closer when the car starts to edge forward - claiming that the cars on his foot, yet he's able to move to the door & hit it?
He must have been having a bad day & the over-acting of his damaged foot is risible.

I would also have stood next to the car window - how is the driver supposed to hear him on a busy NY street if he stands at the front of the car?

In my book if a police officer asks you to stop, you stop...

the driver was in the wrong, the policeman wanted a nice claim up.

some of the comments in here are very immature though. who says the guy hasn't made the money himself? i suspect it's just jealousy when peple say about mummy and daddy.

shame really.

If someone drove over my foot - I dont think my response would be:

"Please step out of the car sir....."

Not surprised at all.... idiot driver

Whenever an official chooses to use violence against an innocent citizen then the state can be seen to be repressive. There isn't enough information here to decide if the officer had reasonable grounds to detain the lad in the car, because 'he said so' doesn't wash with me. Placing himself in front of the car without grounds to detain or arrest struck me as entrapment.

I think the cop was a bully, an arse, and a disgrace. I would want him out of the job unless he had clear legal grounds to confiscate the car or to detain the driver.

The kid had an attitude, would be easier to accept the ticket then dispute it.

The cop was a fool too for standing there.

Two wrongs dont make a right.... Looks like both both hurt in the process

There is no reason why an official cannot post a ticket to the registered keeper. The escalation and subsequent assault were completely unnecessary. I hope the lad takes the brutal and manipulative idiot to the cleaners. And his employers. What sort of training was provided to avoid this sort of contretemp?

the driver was more interested in not loosing 'street cred' from the on lookers, hence he started to drive off when the office told him to stop

the officer then experienced the same, hence he dragged the driver out of the car

Both need to grow-up

Not that he would have gotten far as the taxi which received the nice door dents was still there at the end of the event ...

A policeman asks you to stop, regardless of whether or not he is a facist bully, unless your a complete moron You stop, if he had done as he was told none of it would have happened. he should consider himself lucky he wasn't pistol whipped.
we are very lucky in this country because we know our police have their hands tied by the easily offended do-gooder minority which has lead to a huge decay in respect for others rights because arseholes know they can get away with it. but I think even our biggest morons would think twice before messing with any cop in the US.
Which leaves me thinking this particular dumbf**ks own arrogance got him what he deserved.

Give an idiot a uniform and a gun and guess what you get...that's right, an idiot hiding behind a uniform and a gun.

The reaction from the officer was completely over the top...were they filming an episode of 'Cops' and trying to create a bit of drama...? This blatant abuse of authority makes my blood boil.

Nice car though :-)

Park outside a hotel and hand the key to the valet parking service.

Some people just love to live dangerously.

From an Australian site.
"HATE traffic fines? Here's how to make matters, much, much worse, as demonstrated by the boyfriend of The Hills star Stephanie Pratt.
All you need is an expensive car, nearby video camera and the bad attitude of Julien Chabbott, who was filmed running over the foot of a New York police officer with his cherry-red Ferrari 458 Spider.
In the video, the officer is writing the infringement notice, reportedly for not having proper registration, when Chabbott, 28, gets in his parked car. The officer steps slightly in front of it to block Chabbott from driving away.
Instead, he revs up the sports car and starts to pull forward — right over the officer's foot."

So! Am I to understand that if a policeman is issuing a ticket in Australia. And you happen to return to your car and drive away after you are ordered to stop "repeatedly". The cops then do what? Wave and ask you over for a barbie? Is that what you do when you are getting a ticket. Drive off after having run over the cops foot?

Here's the deal. In New York state. One is required to have a front number plate. Or you may be subject to a fine. That's all. A simple fine and orders to get a plate. The same with a parking violation. If you see a cop writing a ticket. Walk calmly up to the officer and ask what the problem is. After the officer tells you about your infraction. You either plead your case politely or being as your a rich Ferrari owner. Pay the nominal fine, move on and go about your business. No points or insurance issues are attached to these "fix it tickets". Or one can do as this guy did. Walk briskly to your rich boy toy. Do not acknowledge the officer and run over his foot all while being filmed. Which will NOT impress the court. In the end the driver elevated the situation not the cop!
I'd say the driver was the first to go completely over the top with his overreaction to a simple "fix it/ parking" fine.
