Scottish meet - 7/8th August 2010 - Skye!

Bugger, I'm 99.9% certain I'll be back in Brazil by then looks like I'm missing yet another good run.

What makes it worse is I'm missing the national meet as well due to being in aircraft somewhere over the Atlantic that weekend.

My timing as always stinks, have a good one :driving: :D

RichardG - I had your comments about your suitability for dates very much in mind when I was writing down the dates, but unfortunately it's been the hotel availability that killed off the earlier date. Hopefully next time :(

PawnSacrifice - good stuff, I'll add you to the list . Are you a +1 too, camping or hotel?

Will be just me. In the middle of a hot Scottish summer, I think I'll give camping a go  (no call for hair straighteners here :P )

You just put the words "hot", "Scottish" and "summer" in the same sentence

Just make sure your tent's waterproof and midgeproof, that's all I'll say...

Just found out there's been a small delay with my next work Visa (bloody red tape) so there is now a slim chance I might be able to make this. :D

Just got to get clearance from she who must be obeyed especially as it looks like we are heading up there for a few days in July.

I'll let you know closer to the time.

Richard, that's good to know :). I felt a bit bad scheduling this when I knew you were a definate no based on your original posts. Glad there's a good chance you'll make it along.

(I'm almost in your neck of the woods this weekend - biking at Kirroughtree with the van :D)

Cheers for the heads up muppet - those roadworks were ongoing when I was up that way at the start of June, not sure when they're due to finish but I'll bear it in mind for this weekend away in August. We took the Spean Bridge to Dalwhinnie option on the way back down both times recently- once in the Z4, once in the van - it's more fun anyway. I hate the A9 but at least you can divert off it at Dunkeld and get back to the central area via Amulree/Crieff...

(I'm going to stop giving away hints for this trip now!)

See nosa's (multiple) posts above :D

For the folk who're staying at the hotel - have you booked yet? If you haven't, I'd strongly suggest you do ASAP. It was pretty busy last time I was there so it's certainly somewhere you'll have to book in advance. Saying that, there are loads of B&Bs all over Skye so worst-case you'll be able to stay elsewhere, although that then means no drinking with the campsite folks

 Hi all,
Ok I have just booked in to the hotel, As ally has stated it is £59 pp pn B&B. Asked if they had many rooms left for the night of the 7th she said at the moment they are quiet that night but advised anyone wanting to book should look to do it ASAP as they normally start to get a lot of bookings during July for August. They Need a £20 deposit (non refundable) to hold the room.
Let them know you are part of the Z4 forum road trip, It doesn't gain you a discount but the lady I spoke to was quite happy to hear that we (ally) had chosen to stay there.

And to save you all the hard work of going back to Page one here is the link again

Hi folks,

We will be coming up from Bathgate, sort of halfway between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Just booked in to the hotel overnight on the 7th. Really looking forward too the run
toured the highlands 3 weeks ago and it was magical.

badwolf456.

I'm keeping an eye on this one too now as I've just booked off Fridays and Mondays from work between now and September - that'd make this a nice break and I'd probably stay over near Plockton or up over the Applecross pass on the Sunday night and make a full weekend break out of it.

I've done some of the highlands before, back in 2004 and it was pretty spectacular: http://www.flickr.com/photos/siftah/sets/72157594166812351/

Look I'm jealous enough that I can't go anyway, and now here's someone who I could have travelled up with too :headbang: not fair, not fair :x
Might have to leave the kids in Norfolk at the parents for a fortnight rather than a week :) (Can someone write me a sicknote for my mum?)

It's probably best to unsubcribe from the thread right now - once the pictures start rolling in you're going to be as sick as a parrot :P
