"A nurse at the private hospital treating the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge has been found dead in a suspected suicide three days after being duped by two Australian radio presenters in a hoax call.

The body of Jacintha Saldanha, 46, a mother of two teenage children, was found at her lodgings close to the King Edward VII hospital, central London, at 9.25am on Friday."

The very sad Consequence of a stupid Prank... Lives left in tatters...

So unnecessary and all because of a couple of stupid idiots. I hope they suffer terribly because of their "joke".

I have a feeling it may not just have been the prank. She may have had a lot going on anyway for all we know and this was the final straw.

People make these jokes all the time. We all wind each other up especially on hear. It's just a shame it's come to this. It's so tragic she felt that strongly.

Similar prank with Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand also had devastating affects. Don't these sort of people not know that you can really impact people with those "jokes" ?

One reason why i think you should only pull pranks like this on people you know. What maybe funny to one person, will be the complete opposite to another.
Its reported she felt lonely and confused after this, and probably very embarassed and humiliated by the whole thing. Very sad.

I'm not sure about all this...

Firstly to clarify obviously the nurse taking her own life is tragic and a shock, and there is no question that what the Dj's did was wrong.

But, I don't think her taking her own life was purely a result of the radio stunt, there must have been underlying insecurities etc. there to start with. From what has been said she had personal issues which presumably this picked on. Of couse we don't know whether she got into trouble for the phone call situation etc. but then does that make her management partly to blame, or the press for the coverage which no doubt would have made her feel terrible?

Does anyone think the Dj's should be tried with Manslaughter?

This is what Ruby suggested

No, they were dumb, but not criminals. I suspect they feel pretty bad right about now

Exactly my view - but a lot of articles/ comments I've come accross don't hesitate to imply they caused the death, which is quite a statement.

This sounds a bit iffy to me(and my wife),tbh..why would someone kill themselves over taking a crank call for the "Royals".
Just got to be more to it than that/was it Suicide??

She must have been fragile to start with, I think this just pushed her.

In fairness though whatever her state before hand, having a mistake at work like that being highlighted and broadcast across the world would be quite something for anyone to deal with.

Oh and re the suicide comment - when they first announced it this morning (without cause of death) it was seriously sparking attention.
