Roof Down Aggressiveness?

Been a great week for roof down driving :) amazingly the first week since picking the Z4 up that the weather has been good enough. What I have noticed perhaps alot more than my Z3 is the pure aggressiveness from other drivers when driving roof down, oddly hardly have any problems when driving with roof up. Hate to say it always appears to be young women who drive up your arse and pull alongside at red traffic lights then pull away using full acceleration in a plume of blue smoke. I just ignore them but it is amusing. Whilst it doesn't bother me it does irritate when I have tailgators :x I'm just curious why drivers attitudes change when you have the roof down?

Only problem I've ever had in 4 years of driving the Z3 with the top down is a mooron in a van spitting

Tim.

I had a girl ' pushing me ' yesterday in her Clio, then as you say pulled along side me at the lights and floored it, very funny

Not roof down specifically, if anything it's just pure tailgaters that drive me nuts. I can't go any faster than the car in front!

I got sunburn on my head this week from driving with the roof down...

They're so bloody close they can't see there's a car in front (or even a bloody great queue) and when they stick their nose out to take a look they meet something coming the other way :headbang:

I get this and let them pull up beside me before I engage sport mode, smile, wave and then :exitright:

I got a evil eye last week from a young girl in a clio for no good reason when my roof was down, nearly burst out crying  Maybe I have dated her mum in the past :?

It was the cries of "daddy" that gave it away!!!!

When it rains, I might as well leave the roof open, so yeah, would solve the sunburn issue!

For some reason, a Z4 with its roof down seems to be a magnet for abuse. Lots of stories on here and will probably remain an unanswered question.

+1 :driving:

as an aside (roof was up) - had a nice moment today stuck in an olympic related traffic jam in Greenwich. One of the stewards sitting on a bollard next to me quipped: "that is one beautiful car you have there sir  "

Thanks mate :)

There are still some good guys out there!!

My e46 vert was an attraction for abuse

I think it comes with most convertables from jealous tossers

It is strange though. Yes you can get abuse in any vert, but the Z4 seems to attract more. Never received one single piece of abuse in my old Z3. If I was to guess I'd say it was an obvious mix of jealousy, hatred of the BMW driver and the Z4 looking more aggressive in design than other more 'classic' or traditional looking verts. More of a statement car so easily translated to 'they must be a poser lets shout w*nk3r at them'.
