Roof Down Aggressiveness?

In my 16 odd months of Z4 ownership I have collected 4 w*nker & 1 d*ckhead remarks when stopped at junctions etc , does it bother me no its just an opinion and everyone has one of those

i cant say as ive had much abuse in the z4 and ive driven it loads with the top down in the 2 months ive had it. deffo get less attention than my westfield tho.

have had a few more of the VAG Gti bregade try it on but thats probably cos i drive it more than i did the westy. i was happy to see off a mini cooper s the other day

in the kit car i used to get alot of the dad-uncool tribe in zafiras and the like trying it on esp on dual carriage ways at 75....
just used to let them go as i cant be arsed speeding too much

Got accused of "posing" outside Tescos the other day - not somewhere I'd usually go to "see and be seen"

Most positive comments I've had have been when putting roof up or down including an alky/tramp who couldn't believe his eyes

In my time of driving roadsters I have had numerous w**ker comments, three coins thrown at me and a soft toy of some description which landed outside the car.

I suspect many of the comments depend not just on the location but also the individual owner as well.

For example, I am an obvious weakling :( but I suspect if I was a 6'4" tattoed, shaved psycho then people would be far less likely to pass comment.

:punch:

Maybe thats my saving grace.

I am a wimp, but at almost 21 stone, short shaved hair people might think the opposite.

With me, its all fat and no muscle!

Why would they throw coins? ooohh,, the risk of it hitting the paintwork is making me feel uneasy....

Other than the windscreen washer gag & being pulled out on a motorway, even in London traffic (touch wood) haven't had any of the bad experiences mentioned here.

Only thing I possibly do to annoy others is to let too many people in from side roads, crossings & merging traffic, almost always gets a smile or small wave & every so often even an air kiss from the ladiez

Letting people in is good, it destroys the sterotypical image of BMW drivers, I love the reactions you get

I let a Policeman in his patrol car out a few days back. Flashed my lights at him to let him know that I was letting him out. Won't be doing that again in a hurry.... 'misuse of headlights' and all that. They can all stay there! :D

As an alternative, why not show him one finger, indicating he should go first. I'm sure he'll understand... Saying that, the very lovely policewoman directing traffic around a wreck the other day left me contemplating something else altogether... :)

:o -did the coins hit you or your zed mate?

This morning at 7am it was t**t up my jacksi in a VW Golf in the pouring rain, greasy roads etc. His reward was to be slowed down to 28mph :)
I kept double checking the passenger door mirror as the rearview mirror is deceptive making a car behind look much closer than it is and the twerp was crawling up my exhaust  Why do people do that?

Will be digging the Z3 out of its mothballs this weekend so might a restful drive next week :|

Someone in a Golf is probably because they want to piss you off until you floor it so they can see how fast your car is. At least, errr.... that's what I used to do to sports cars when I was younger...

I got this once with a fiesta at a set of lights. He knew his car had no chance but I think he just wanted to see the Z4 fly. I obliged and could only see a spec on my rear view mirror after that

No verbal abuse. Don't get much of that here anyway. But I have had a couple of drivers pull up beside me at red lights in weeny little eco-city cars, look over at my Z, and then floor it at the green ... as if I'm even going to think of engaging a glorified shopping trolley like that. I just let 'em go. Complete waste of time.

I had a few negative comments when I had my roadster! But in the coupe have only ever had good comments. Mind you you can't hear as much in the coupe :D

It really did use to annoy me though as it did sometimes put me off putting the roof down in a built up area, I know that they are just jealous sad individuals. Before I got my first z and I saw a nice car I just thought to myself lucky so and so wish it was me, I never felt any bad feelings towards the person. But I guess that's the difference between us and those kind of people.

Interesting... I could give that a go! I assume if things go awry, I can cite your advice as a defence? :D
