Ronk update

Evening all, just a wee information post re Ron.

I know there was a post wishing Ron a happy birthday and I posted Ron was in his bed unwell. He’d messaged me earlier that day to say he’d had a rubbish birthday and he was in bed with a heavy cold/flu sort of thing but the good news was it wasn’t Covid related.

Last night Rosemary (Mrs Ronk) phoned me to say there had been a change. Ron had collapsed the night before and had been taken to hospital with respiratory issues. He was admitted to the acute medical ward and was put on oxygen and IV antibiotics as he was struggling to breathe.

Ron contacted me by text himself later this afternoon to say he’d been transferred to the respiratory unit and has had X-rays and got a CT scan this afternoon. It looks like he’s got double pneumonia. He’s still feeling very wobbly and feels ok for a wee while but 10 minutes later doesn’t feel great at all. He’s still on oxygen at the moment and will remain so until his breathing has stabilised.

Ron asked me to let you all know what’s going on and I will update this thread with anything that Ron wishes to share.

Here’s to a full and speedy recover Ron

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Ron on a couple of occasions on forum runs up in the Scottish Borders and sat next to him and his good lady for lunch on one of them...in a dungeon iirc :D He is the very definition of a true gentleman and a forum member I hold in the highest regard. I hope you make a full recovery soon Ron.

As a relative newbie, IMHO Ron is the epitome of the stalwart of a forum like this; the wise 'old guard'.
Get well soon Ron.

Ever since I joined the Forum I’ve enjoyed Ron’s posts. Like everyone else I wish him a speedy recovery.

Thanks fellas your well wishes are very much appreciated

I feel very tearful at the moment as my CT scan has shown an inconclusive results to the medics - there may be some permanent damage to both lungs and potentially covid related.
The Ward sister would not say what any potential outcome would be - I suspect the worst somehow.

I was a dedicated advocate of the jab an have lived a hermit’s existence this last two years, so all I can do is say my prayers!

Please for the love of God do not let Andy’s post deteriorate into another covid discussion.

I will attempt tö post an update when the consultant has been tö see me tomorrow.

Im going to try for some sleep

Thanks again for the well wishes chaps

On this subject alone, any sign of posts on this thread going this way and I will be asking Mods to remove them at Ron’s request. That’s not what this thread is about.

Ron, keep your chin up and prayers for good news tomorrow
