Roadster or Coupe?

Hardtop makes sense if you don't have a garage. Otherwise, it's a waste of money as the soft top is snug enough this side of Greenland :)

and conversely, when you take the hardtop off in the summer, you'll need a garage to store it

Actually, my original plan to upgrade to an M was to get a roadster with hardtop. My building has a parking garage underneath, so that's only a space for the car but we also have storage lockers where I could keep the hardtop the 8 months a year I wouldn't need it.

with the top down you also hear a lot more of what's going on under the hood, not just the tailpipes.
On that perfect weather day, you officially sign on to addiction...
the coupe, well, you're still inside, and, well you could just play Gran Tourismo?
:fuelfire:

:poke:

I bought my 'roadster' because I love open top motoring in all weather (except rain of course). If I wanted to be enclosed in a tin box I would have gone for the coupe.

Coupe is the only way to go. The amout of time you have the top down over here is limited. I undestand the appeal. I have been tempted myself. But looking at the 2 cars the coupe looks far sexier than the roadster. The lines of the boot make it look more aggressive and a lot sexier than the roadsters back end. Coupes 1 - Roadsters nil!!

What are you Coupe guys on about - what choices do you have? I have 2 - 1.top down and 2. top up, and your choices NIL: top up PERMANENTLY (that'll be permanently driving in a tin box) :poke:

Going back home from work right as i was going to park in the driveway i saw a black Z4 Roadster parking in the house next to mine. One roadster out of so, so many in this place. You know how many coupes are here? One! MINE!

3. If you like a tin box in the winter or just some variety - add a hard top!

May I add in regard to "The amout of time you have the top down over here is limited"... listen, this is the Z4-forum not the Women's Axillary Balloon Corp! Nothing wrong with a little cold weather! So long as it's not raining we're in business! And even that didn't stop Aebous and SK93! Or Spokey who seemed determined to fill his Z1 with water!

I've been pleasantly surprised by the amount of time I can have the roof down... couple weeks ago, coming to work, 0.5 degrees, fantastic!

And with an M you get even more of the noise with the roof down

I just couldn`t bring myself to drive the Roadster. I think if I was under 30 i might have thought about it. I know most people don`t care what they look like but I doubt there are many "admiring" glances as you drive through a town centre in the Summer, more like "who does he think he is"! Admiring glances are saved for women!
I`ll stick with my M coupe. It`s also the fact that you can get a roadster with a 4 cyl engine. At least all the coupes are 6 cyl. Or maybe I am fugly and Do like to hide in my tin top!

A bad attack of vanity I think..... never mind you'll get over it as you mature with age (or perhaps you won't)! :poke:

Plus you get a free hair dryer and curling tongs with the roadster, that will swing it for the ladies :P

Really... still using that one

OP, do you really want to roll with the likes of this? Exactly :poke:

That said, I'd take a M with a silly tin roof over most other tin tops! Certainly with £10K of one!

If you are a big gayer yes :P

I've had my roof down the last three nights this week going home.

Jumper on, hat on, heated seats on, vents on hot blowing at hands, sorted :D

10s putting roof down, 10s putting it up, and a lovely fresh air breather on the way home :)

It really is a case of if you don't use it, then it's not for you, but that doesn't mean everyone else in the UK is soft :poke:

I think by and large, my roof is down more than it is up.

seriously, that's why they invented central heat, plus heated seats too!
oh yeah, what's more important?
How MY experience is in the car? (Roadster is unbeatable for fun and visceral roar) vs.
how the CAR looks which I can't appreciate while i am inside the thing?!
???
hmmmmmmm

uhhh... it's about the thrills for ME!
Roadster FTW!
