Retrofit Cruise Control

Hi all

I have now fitted my cruise control switch and cowel as instructed for my 3.0 06 plate n52 engine. And guess what? It's not working! We followed the instructions to the letter for the N52, correct pin 39 correct wiring under the steering column everything. Wasn't easy to do so took photos so I could do a pictured how to when it was finished. I really cant understand why it's not working. I know lots of people have tried doing this on the N52 with limited sucess. The only thing I can think of is that it does need coding after all. Has any one retrofitted the N52 without coding, and problems? Would really appreciate any help.

Mine arrived today as promised from Soper BMW Lincoln £57.50, I fitted it in 16 minutes including cutting the cowl which had the outline already marked by BMW. Off out now to see if it works

It works great. Novelty lasted the seven minute journey to Sainsbury's. I wonder how often Ill actually use it

Which instructions did you follow, if they are the BMW ones it wont work as you have probably connected into the plug in the big box under the bonnet instead of the smaller box in front of the big box.

Hutch - I cant remember, did you you get yours done? I know its not in the sig.

I spoke to Soper and got quote for the kit and was planning to get it done one bank holiday weekend. Then I've gone and bought a house so will be concentrating on that if it completes (heres hoping it completes soon!).

Maybe first task for the new garage, once its built :wink:

No I have the stork but need to get the wiring loom, but there is a very good chance I'm selling soon so doubt I will fit unless it's a deal breaker.

Fitted my cruise control stalk this morning - 15 mins from start to finish!

I paid about £60 from dealer however that did include BMW owners club discount, so £66 is about right.

Test drove it straight after and everything works a treat!

Thanks everyone for the intel in this, great, cheap and easy mod!

Just another one saying I've carried out the mod thanks to the advice found on this forum. Stalk fitted to an 03 plate without any problems whatsoever. Part was around £70 inc VAT from Dick Lovett Swindon.

My '03 Z4 now has everything except the Sat Nav, thanks for this post.

Stalk was £69.01 from Scotthall in Leeds.

Just fitted my cruise control with the help of this guide. Easy peasy and took all of 20 mins if that to do! The stalk cost me £60.38 from Mark at Sopher in Lincoln.

Int he last pages of the Post -04 guide for installation it says "Encode/program the retrofit with SSS (Software service station) via the retrofit/cip path?!

What does that mean. The rest looks relatively simple?!?

It means you have to go to BMW (or someone with the software) so they can "program" your car to turn on the cruise control module.

In my 2003 car, this turned out to just be a lie - as you don't have to to turn squat on to get it to work.
Whether the same rings true in a 2007 plate, I'm not 100% sure.. but I seriously doubt it.

Just ignore it and follow this guide. If it still doesn't work after you've done it, check back here, as someone with a facelift car would be able to confirm if a dealer visit is on the cards

(But I REALLY doubt you need to.. it should just be a case of plug it all in and bobs your uncle )

just fitted my cruise control on 2003 z4, works perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

took about 30 mins, nice and simples
