I’ve just purchased a zed with what I believe is the standard hifi system, 8 speakers including in the footwells that I only discovered last night.
It is honestly a surprisingly good sound, far better than I expected. I wouldn’t select a car based purely on this as it is one of the easiest things to upgrade anyway.

Sorry to disappoint, the standard hi-fi has only 6 speakers, the speaker grilles in the door cards are empty, unless someone has retro-fitted an extra pair there.
The easiest way to tell if you have a 10-speaker system is to look behind the seats. There will be speaker grilles where the storage cubbies would otherwise be.
The 10-speaker system came in two flavours: DSP/Carver and non-DSP. Both are much better than the standard system.

Ah yes, I’ve just listened closely and you’re right (of course) how weird.

Re service history. No wonder when I was asking the previous seller for lots of info last year it wasn’t forthcoming.
I just got lots of flak for asking so many questions and about not being bothered to travel (several hours) to see it. Then trying to my nose in it on MY wanted thread by saying “ sold to the first person who could be bothered to turn up”.

I was told it needed no work if I recall, yet you’ve done loads.

Anyway, pricey but it still looks lovely, cosmetically at the very least. Maybe try autotrader and it will go on a sunny bank holiday weekend I’m sure. Glwts

Panel gap(on the right)on the front on picture is a bit of a concern.

No Steve I had just opened the bonnet to take a pic of the engine bay and I hadn't shut it properly. I did spot that too after I posted the photo.

Yes mate I had to spend another 2K afterwards but once it was all sorted I knew It was all done and dusted as they say. Never seen the health issue coming though that's prevented my use!!
When you consider it's age 18yrs and the mileage it's only averaged 4k a year so "gappy" service dates in my humble opinion can be expected as services are roughly on a 5K interval earliest I think?
Anyway the colour combination and spec I think are  And there are "NO spanners" under the bonnet.

So, in what way is it in better condition than this one, for instance:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202406090573783

No connection to the car, but you say no one will find one as good as yours, so would be interesting to know some specifics, thanks.

Looks like a very nice car, Not sure if there's a difference I can only suggest that I prefer the colour combination of mine. Just a preference thing I suppose? and the £500 less on the Asking price, I'm unsure but is the Midnight Blue with champagne leather and piano black dash more of an Individual??

Yes, individual option. I have the standard brochure, price list and individual book. 🤓
Very nice combo.

I just don't know how you can claim "you won't find in as good condition." Have you put every car on the market up on a ramp? I'm in the market for a good 3.0si, but that kind of claim is off putting. In reality, you have no idea about the other cars and if you're unrealistic about that, what else are you being unrealistic about?

I belong to our local BMW Car club and we have a member who is lead mechanic at his works. He came with me when I bought the car to look it over and advise me. Since then I have taken it to his workshop where he put it up on a ramp and it was he who confirmed that all the underside is good, no issues. He sprayed it all underneath with this clear protection (cant remember its name) but He reassured me about the condition. I bought the car because we all go to car shows and I wanted one that stood out and this one does that. No I've obviously not checked every car out there, but this one has been inspected all over by a very competent vehicle mechanic and while other cars may well be as good this one this is in that category too. So others may be in as good a condition so my comment may have been over expressed I suppose!

Poor chap I feel the op is getting a hard time here!

A lot of Z4s have a part history so not unusual.

As for the price it is strong but then I would say the majority of E85 2006 onwards are currently.

I would put the car on Auto trader. There are several private sale ones currently and at £9000 yours wouldn’t look badly priced. One with similar mileage went up yesterday for £10,990.

Unlikely to sell for that but still makes yours look cheap in comparison

Thank you Z450 for some common sense comments. Yes this post is getting a bit out of hand in some respect!

Just to answer the other remark on the post above. No there is No rust I am aware of under or over. And comparing it to that other car advert, that has done 10K more miles for a start that's another possible 2yr use in my book to get this one up there. The MOT is clean and new.

And a nice colour combo as well.

Asking prices have crept up again I notice, probably the good weather and even 2003 cars are back to 6.5k

Considering the amount I have spent on mine to get it to a good condition (similar car, slightly higher miles), I have got to a total of over £11k (including purchasing the car at 5.7). So if this car has had this spent already done, it makes it more valuable in that sense.

If it was an M, the gaps in service history would bother me more.

I couldn’t agree more, and OP has been more than patient.
I don’t know zedwheels, but he’s not exactly a flybynight just on here to flog his car to an unsuspecting audience.
It’s a lovely car in a rare spec. GLWTS.

It comes with the territory advertising a car on a forum

If it’s priced very high people are going to want to know the in and outs of everything to justify the price being asked. And again any potential buyer will want to ask about gaps in the history etc.

People get overly sensitive.

Time will tell if it sells at this price or not.
As it always does.

Well, the price is quite high, while seller claiming it's in better mechanical and cosmetic condition than literally every other car on the market, when in reality it's impossible to know if that's accurate, does rather invite comments, no?

When you're in the market for a car like this, you're buying the seller as much as the car. The car may be good, but the sales pitch is an issue. And yes, there have been some very, very high priced private cars in recent days. But why would anyone buy them when you can go to somewhere like Zachary Luke and get a car with statutory consumer protection and some dealer prep for the same money. Or less?

Private sellers asking trade prices makes no sense at all. The recent 70k mile car for £11k is £500 more than the 50k mile Zachary Luke car. Crazy. For me, I'd rule it out on he basis that the seller is totally unrealistic and I'd doubt everything about the car and the sale, it's a turn off even beginning to get involved with a seller like that. The one in this thread one is merely a bit toppy in price terms, but claiming it's the best car on the market implies a certain kind of tiresome seller. That may be unfair, but you can only go on the available data.

It's been happening for a couple of years, get used to it. I don't agree with it either, but the market is very, very strange these days.

I must say that the seller here has been very patient with some of the responses. Many would have said "sod you, I will advertise it elsewhere" by now. As for the condition, no-one will know for sure unless they go to look at it in person.
