Always had a thing for Kwakas TBH. I've had 14 of them. Only had two other makes; a Honda CBR600 and a Yam FZR600. Didn't like either.Oilyfingers said:Why not go for a Triumph Trident?

The KH 2 stroke triples were named the 'widow makers'. Just don't tell Rob (Smartbear)! :evil:Mr Tidy said:I can relate to that - the bike I miss the most is probably the modified KH500 I had years ago.
I wouldn't discount one if the price was right. An X7 250 would suffice too. I quite fancy an RD400E/F in yellow (as a bloke down the pub had one with Microns when I was 18) but they have got very, very expensive. I would have an RD500LC if I was a millionaire!Mr Tidy said:But what about a Suzuki GT380?
They went silly with money but seem to be coming down a bit now. The YPVS later ones are not as sought after it would seem.Mr Tidy said:Right now I'd love an RD350LC,
I have a man called Mr Haynes!Smartbear said:Hope you’re good at adjusting points-they’ve got a set for each cylinder!

You may have, but you really don't want to be faffing around with 3 sets of points - I learnt from experience.![]()
That's the advantage of RD E and F models - they have electronic ignition! But I think Boyer Brandsen can supply electronic systems for earlier bikes.
I'd want an early LC for the "Italic" style wheels and no fairing, plus I think the YPVS set up can be problematic.
I want to 'faff' around. That is the whole point. I don't want to ride the bloody things. Riding bikes in anger is a thing of the past for me. I want any machinery to work, yes, but it's about making them 'perfect' for me. I have problems; I am fully aware of that!Mr Tidy said:You may have, but you really don't want to be faffing around with 3 sets of points - I learnt from experience.
On their website, which I was looking at yesterday by chanceSmartbear said:Their first business address was 5 mins from my place, they’re 10 minutes up the road these days

There is one area of 'old' bikes which have to be right for me; the exhausts. Jap bikes, seemingly especially Kawasaki didn't make their exhausts very durable for the UK. So many old bikes have aftermarket exhausts, or dented and knackered originals. I have a real problem with four stroke bikes that came out of the factory with 4-2 or 4-4 exhausts that have 4-1 on them. Two strokes with Allspeeds or Microns also. All about the originality for me. Getting hold of OEM exhausts seems pretty much impossible or VERY expensive.Mr Tidy said:My mate bought a few bikes from an auction at Haynes earlier this year, and one was a scruffy KH250.
