What do we think to these?

I used to lust after them when I was a kid in the '70s, reading my uncle's "Classic & Sports Car" magazines and looking in the classifieds!

Nah, if you want a breadvan get a Z3M. There’s not much to recommend a GTE apart from nostalgia. I had a poke round a SS1 the other day and I couldn’t find anything about it which made me want one over a Z4.

My friend with the Dolomite, Herald, GT6, XKR, several old Rangies, Jaguar S type had one, described it as awful in all respects…sold it..only car he’s ever sold…says something…

I had a feeling they wouldn't be many people's cup of tea. I admit they don't quite have the wow factor they once did for me!

Been looking at '60s, '70s and '80s 'classics' again. So far I've got the usual suspects; Stag, Spitfire, TR7 and TVR wedges.
There is a lovely looking TVR 3000m for sale, but the price is rather high. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202209069501086?model=3000M&radius=1501&postcode=pe111xn&make=TVR&sort=relevance&include-delivery-option=on&advertising-location=at_cars&onesearchad=New&onesearch

Any suggestions on a £15k budget would be welcomed.

Ford Capri?

Anything Ford is way too expensive for me Mikey. Prices are ridiculous. My first car was a mk111 Capri; not the best cars IMO.

Reality is that most cars in that bracket that had a cool air to them are now mostly rusted badly. I would love to get another E30 3 series and had a look at a few- aside the bodywork rust which is sortable (not an issue to be fair on a fibre glass car!) the chassis and subframes were big jobs to resurrect.

Most of the cars I have seen have had a restoration at some point. The cheaper ones could probably do with another one by now, though.
I would want a car that I can 'tinker' with in my garage but I don't have the space, or the equipment (or the skill!) to do major bodywork.

Healey 3000 or a MGA, MGB. Morris Minor. Jaguar XJS, just looked at a youtube vid by some classic car guy and they are not too pricey but watch for rust. A nice Z3 that has been restored, saw some really nice ones at the Beaulieu BMW show almost got me wanting one myself.

As recommended already. MGB or possibly C. Although the C is more expensive. All the parts are readily available and at reasonable prices. Over the years I have enjoyed owning six. But I don’t think I would swop my Z for one now.

I've always loved the iconic Alfa Spider, Vw MK1 Golf GTi or MK1 Scirocco Storm, or even a classic beetle with the option of transplanting a subaru engine in it, my grail car would be an early 911, all be huge contenders if I were in the market. You have a wonderful budget, but my choice would alter on whether or not you wanted a project or completed vehicle. Options option's, it's a wonderful opportunity. I'm one that would research the market and availability of spares, local specialists, as it would heavily determine my final choice. Good Luck whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be the right one for you :driving:

Healeys are VERY expensive (and rare). Not keen on the MG (A, B, or C); I'm not quite old enough to remember them, so have no real nostalgia.
Morris Minor....seriously??? :o :D
I have looked at XJSs. Never really been a 'Jag man' and they are an old Jag with many many common issues. It would have to be a V12 and a cab; decent ones are out of my budget.

I don't like Z3s; think they are fugly and too complicated for me to 'tinker' with.

I have noticed that most 'modern classics' have shot up in value in the last few years. Anything over 30 years old is silly money IMO.
And yet Jenson Interceptors, Stags, E-types and MGBs are lot less money than they were 10 years ago. Probably the nostalgia and age thing. Same reason why vintage car values have plummeted. Those that loved them are too old or dead! :?

You don't know me very well, do you? I change my mind like the UK weather.

Yes, you do seem quite fussy. It would be best then to stick with the E89, maybe get a different colour for a nice change.
