Reliant Scimitar GTE

Yes, you do seem quite fussy. It would be best then to stick with the E89, maybe get a different colour for a nice change.
The E89 stays. I am looking to get shot of the 440 as I don't really use it and it takes up garage space. I have done everything I can to make it 100% perfect (for me); now I'm bored!
My plan is to buy a couple of old Kawasaki motorbikes (I have my eye on a couple) to 'tinker' with and get up to scratch, then to also have an old car.
I think I'm a wannabe collector, just the bank manager has other ideas! :D

The 440 is worth about £25k, plus I am due a small inheritance sometime in the new year, so that is the budget for the lot.

I was never a fan of the Scimitar GTE - I preferred the Gilbern Invader, Lancia Beta HPE and Volvo P1800ES alternatives.

If a TVR 3000 looks a bit expensive how about the later TVR S with the Ford Cologne V6?

I always wanted a Lancia Beta Montecarlo, but now the only Italian I’d seriously contemplate is a GT Junior.

Volvo P1800ES alternatives.
Seen the prices of those, Iain?

Ouch. :o

Mind you that one is a bit of a rarity.

My last lease car was a Volvo; wasn't impressed TBH.

I can just see it now "so what car you got now Pond?"
"I've bought a £35k classic"
"Nice; is it an E-type Jag or Sierra Cosworth?"
"Nope. It's a Volvo"

Stay away from anything British if you want to be able to ever drive it. The 944 sounds like a good suggestion, way out of 911 territory though

Driving it is an added bonus for me; British is the way forward when it comes to classic cars. Wouldn't expect you to understand. :P

I understand very well. Owned one British made car, worst I ever had. Discovery, enough said

But you don’t own the cars long enough to break down on you often enough :P

It's all about nostalgia when you get to our age.
You know how you get all glassy-eyed when you see a windmill or an old pair of clogs, or a bunch of tulips; or someone smoking weed in public?
Nostalgia. Gets to us all! :P

Something red without rust but LHD. Well under budget too.

LHD would be a PITA, and those bumpers look minging.
Agreed. I can barely deal with a RHD, couldn't imagine a left hooker. And those bumpers are minging. In fact the whole car looks minging and only £10k! :o

Saab turbo maybe?
No Saabs. I had a very bad experience with an ex business partner over a Saab (long story). My dad had a Saab 96 (900cc two stroke) when I was a little kid. I loved it but think it may have contributed significantly to global warming.
Those were the days before Carbon Dioxide had been invented. :D
