Ram air scoops: fitting the damn thing - Poll

Not fitted mine yet but hearing all the different accounts of how easy or what a PITA they are to fit, thought I’d Poll it

I've tried to fit it and #%*&¥#%!! Gave up!

OK my option is "Fitted but top screw is only half way in - looking for goose neck screwdriver attachment!"

Same old story - get the right tools do the job properly lol

Fitted it this morning through the grill opening, very easy job 15-20 mins tops and no problem getting all three screws in place. It is, however, worth running the screws in & out of the holes before fitting as the holes are very slightly undersize

To make life easier, after offering up the scoop to check alignment, I added a couple of strips of double-sided trim tape to the mating surfaces. This held the scoop firmly in place and avoided the need for a third hand while getting the screws in.

No idea what a ram air scoop is.

But I do remember that Suzuki GTs had a ram air system - fell in love with them but never had one.

Long screwdriver for the top, very short one for the bottom. 10 minutes, no problems. Still on the car as Bing has not destroyed that yet :lol:

I spent ages yesterday Nick, I just can't get into the 2 top screws.
I had a torch and removed the air filter to get some extra light in from above but couldn't get the handle of the screwdriver round far enough, will try again at the weekend armed with some sticky tape.

Don't want to get personal, but by the sound of it, it's the size of your tool that's the problem :lol:

I used a long ratchet screwdriver with magnetic interchangeable cross point heads, which is great for holding the screw whilst it's being guided into the screw hole. Even then I managed to drop the screw a few times.
