As they're going to be made of mild steel, wouldn't you be better having them powder coated in black and then apply paint over the top? To my mind, the powder coat should be a bit more resistant to chips etc. and, if the paint gets scratched, you're exposing the powdercoat to the elements rather than the mild steel...?

So I've told him to do them all in black, meaning I will have 55 black scoops. Plenty of spares!!!
For the red and blue scoops, I am waiting for two other powder coaters to come back to me. Annoying for those wanting blue or red. The only other option is for me to supply the bare scoops at a reduced cost and then you can spray them your colour of choice? The reduction in cost would pay for the paint easily.
