Quotation help...

Hi guys,

Went for a test drive yesterday and the girl friend wants one for sure.
Would really appreciate some sound advice of...

1. New and what if anything I can get the dealer to include.
2. The PCP deal and any catches/cons.
3. Any discounts I can ask/expect

I had to leave shortly after the test drive but asked my gf to stay and spec the car she wants and get it all in writing.

sDrive20i Roadster N20 2.0i M Sport and added the heated seats option.
Alpine White with Coral Red Kansas leather. 18" 325 alloys

The total car is priced at £33815.44 and includes the following..

1. Delivery Pack £760
2. New Car Fuel £30.64
3. First Reg Fee £55
4. Platinum Protection Package £1999
5. RFL £170
6. Service inclusive £ 350
7. Special Allowance £ -1544.20

Going through this I don't know what items 1,4 and 7 are.
I would negotiate items 2, 5 at the very least to be FOC and also to include the private plate transfer from old to new.

Offered £6500.00 for trade in on her 2004 E85 and she wants to top up the deposit by a further £6000
This means putting down £12500.00 for a £300 monthly repayment for 42 months.
Leaving around a £12kish final payment.

How does this sound?
I want to be in a position where I can go in and drive a hard bargain with all the knowledge.

I would go into the dealership again and ask him to go thro the quotation chapter and verse!

Oh that's def the plan but like I said I would like to get a heads up on things from the gurus here.
That way I am better prepared to do a deal with the dealer.

There'll be people much more knowledgeable than I am but that seems expensive.

You've got 12.5k down, 12.6k worth of payments and 12kish final payment which gets you to 37k. That sound's about right for 33.8k list.

The 'special allowance' is just a discount I think. But where's your dealer deposit contribution? You should be able to get 5k off that price with the dealer deposit contribution. See http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/pricesandspecifications/0,,1156___bs-WjQ%3D%40bb-RTg5X1JP,00.html?seriesID=Z4&bodyID=E89_RO&offerAction=showOffer&requestSource=topnav for the current offers.

I may be missing something but if they've tried to give you a price without that contribution I'd go see a different dealer as a matter of principle.

I imagine the delivery pack and platinum protection package are the paint protection and all the various insurances. You can generally get better and cheaper options from third parties here.

I have checked and there is no dealer contribution listed. I will ask why and if none is available then look else where.
Ref, the Platinum and Delivery packs I would probably knock off and as you say look else where if I really want them. ( Once I have researched what they are)

Thanks mate.

I understand!

Sometimes dealerspeak can become a smoke and mirrors experience. QED

As Alwilb has said above, it seems expensive compared to the offer on the BMW website.

Term of Agreement 42 months
41 Monthly Payments of £349.00
On the Road Cash Price* £33,175.00
Customer Deposit £5,450.00
Dealer Deposit Contribution £5,250.06
Total Deposit £10,700.06
Amount of Credit £22,474.94
Credit Arrangement Fee^ £0.00
Option to Purchase Fee** £10.00
Optional Final Payment £12,647.11
Total Amount Payable £37,666.17

I wouldn't use any more cash as a deposit than the trade-in so using BMW's figure of £6.5k would reduce your monthly payments by say £20 over that period plus you want a bit more thrown into the deal, although you want heated seats and they will probably insist on having the 19" wheels (already included in the example above) so a good deal would be White, heated seats, 19" wheels, £6.5k deposit and monthly payments of £310 to £330 and forget about the paint protection etc.

Sounds like the deal for me. AND would get rid of the platinum protection which sounds like paint and interior protection..... snake oil i.m.o.!

So keep the trade in as the deposit for the deal and no more.. and find out about the dealer contribution.
Need to get the the repayments to the £300 mark so will bargain hard to get that and forget about any products they try and flog me.

I also want a full tank of petrol, a years car tax and private plate transfer thrown in.

That's great guys thanks alot - :)

That's another £300+!

You might have to be prepared to walk away from it. :(

You're going to struggle to get it down to £300 pcm especially not putting that £6k down.
You can roughly work on + or - £25 pcm payment for every £1000 added on or taken off the price, so not putting in the £6k would add £150 pcm to your payments!
But the extra £150 x 42 monthly payments would only be £6300 in total so over that amount of time its a no brainier to keep your cash in the bank.

I managed to get this from Audi (tax being £450.00)
Being indian I negotiate pretty well -

Thanks mate for explaining as I still don't have an clue how this PCP system works.
Absolutely, keep the cash in the bank and use it as it's needed.

Hopefully going to pop into the dealer at lunch time today and have a chat with the Business Manager regarding the deal.

Fingers crossed - :D

Good luck :) Hope you get lots of £££ off...

See if you can get some tiger claws instead of the problematic 296 wheels though.

Cheers Woody..

I think the wheels quoted were 325 from memory.. would that be right?
They were the 18" ones. I like the sound of tiger claws though..
Got any pictures of these?

Good time to negotiate, end of year targets are closing in and your purchase could be the difference between bonus and no bonus.
Haggle hard :D
