Project Spa - baton passed on. Keep reading

Well done Martin! Hope you enjoy the drive. I'm so glad my ex Z4 got genuine new owner. Congrats Mark! I wish you miles of smiles and great Spa adventure. :driving: Janis.

Thanks Janis - I hope all is well over there!

3 days in to owning my first Z and I am loving it! Great to be back in a manual, petrol, rear wheel drive car with a great sound track. Had to give it a good clean today

The wheels are bugging me though… great looking 108s but lots of bubbling and flaking, letting the car down. I am thinking of getting them refurbed or buying a new set and selling these on or part ex… any thought on options?

Well it's certainly looking good, and it's great to see you have been enjoying it!

108s are a PITA. A refurb gets expensive as the rims need to be split for a proper job and the bolts often snap. They look great, but don't seem to stay looking great for too long. :(

I decided to move mine on from my 2nd E86 while they were still in good condition and bought a set of Style 295s off an E89 that were quite rare and certainly different. I'd probably look for something different, but if you found a set of recently refurbed 108s that might be an option.

Just a thought: have you seen the wheels on [ref]bigwinn[/ref]’s Project Jigsaw? I believe they may be available.

If you are going for new wheels, my personal choice would be some refurb mv2 plus brand new uniroyals from mytyres. They are on offer and Uniroyals are really good. Of course, you can buy some chinese rubber even cheaper...but... these black circles keep you on road, and if you choose wrong ones, sending you off road :D [10% off - Code: UKUNI10
Uniroyal RainSport 5]

Thanks all. I quite like the CSL wheels so will look into those with some good tyres - those 295s look nice as well and easier to clean… are the 108s worth anything pre- refurb?

Well… the other Z4 has already bought a private plate and the third team are clinging to the cheating option of a Jag XK so I think I am ok! I try and justify it by saying it will help with selling the car on in August :?

Keep the old wheels as well. With the state of the market you may recoup more by refitting those to sell the car sand selling the CSLs separately.

Good tip!

Just what I was thinking of. Thanks for that - heard mixed reviews about the ride on 19” wheels

Non run flat. With run flat you can book yourself in for a spine adjustment

Would you have room in the boot for a space saver wheel with all your luggage? (assuming a female will occupy the passenger seat)
