The 3rd team involved in our trip have purchased their car… they were going for a Jag XK but changed their mind. I am almost too embarrassed to show you what they have bought. They have really let the side down with this…

Oh dear.

There's always one!

Great idea! I will also get them a mocked up sponsorship sign saying "I Love Cockburns Port" that splits in 2 when the door opens

3rd brake is changed back to red. 2 reasons:
1. I prefer it
2. The clear one didn’t work (wasn’t plugged in - must have worked loose since the MOT)

I have now worked more on a car in the last couple of weeks than in the previous 52 years!

That third light was a secondhand one I fitted as the original was badly cracked.
It did the same to me and I assumed I hadn’t plugged it in properly so refitted the plug. Must have been a loose fit.
Sorry.
Red looks better though.

It is a bugger of a connection so not surprised it came loose. Was going to go red even if it did work so no drama! I still have the clear if you want it back for your spares bin?

You’ll be buying a doer upper next

Can anyone recommend someone who can sort the potential timing issue causing my VANOS error code please? As suggested by j3nks79 earlier in this thread. I am in Wiltshire but could travel.

I would say bring it back to me but it’s a long way and I would need to buy the kit which seems around £150!!

Let’s not rule that out. You know the car better than anyone! Maybe I buy the kit and you do the work, keeping the kit for future fettling? Something to consider, particularly if we could do it in a day and I make a round trip? Let’s chat off line when you are back from your hols if that is ok?

[ref]j3nks79[/ref], have you done this job and do you have the tools?
And crucially, could you help Mark?
Better to have someone who has done it before.

I might have the cam locking kit for the N52. I’d have to check the garage.
Unfortunately I’m starting radiotherapy for liver cancer next week and I’m going to be out of action for a while.
But if I find the kit you are welcome to borrow it.
It’s probably a good 5 hours of work. Add a couple more of you haven’t done it before.
I could probably email you the guide to doing the job from autodata as well. So you have a step by step
