Project Restoration Zed- almost done.

Major step forward in the restoration of project Z. Worked out via real OEM that the whole front panel doesn’t need to be replaced if the crash bar is bent as the crash bar and the attached legs are designed to be sacrificial. Made the job much easier as it was all simple bolt on/off parts.
Once off I swapped them for the new ones and all is now good at the front. You can see I had to use a jack to support the radiator during the process in case anyone wants to copy in the future- another bonus of not having to remove the full panel as then the rad would have had to have come out.

Will it be ready for Spa?

Should be- only needs the bumper painted and a fresh Mot really now. When do they go?
25th July I think.
Already got Stuart's 2.0 and all being well this 2.5si I have here. Need a third and I believe yours was mentioned: if it's in budget.

Failing that, I have a few others they can pick from.

Project Z will defo be done by then so hopefully will work out as I’d love to see the wee zed having a great road trip. Would be very satisfying to see it being treated to such a trip.

Looks amazing Paddy! As enuff_zed mentioned, we now have 2 cars sorted. The third team are still dithering over a Z4 or alternative - I have shared your project plus the options Martin has mentioned so they can take their pick if a Z4 is their decision. Fingers crossed they go for a Z4 as it would be great to get 3 in convoy, all obtained through this forum!

And this one would give you one each of N46, N52 and M54 engines

Cheers, it’s been really satisfying to get the wee car sorted. I’ll be sad to see it go in the end but four cars is not making the wife happy! I would love it if your friends were to purchase it for the trip so fingers crossed they see sense. If they want any extra info on the car please just ask them to get in touch.

Got some time off work so can get back to finishing project z. Can anyone confirm me the paint code for titanium silver is 354? Want to drop the bumper for paint this week.

If you want to verify: check the VIN number plate in the engine bay. It will show you both the colour name and code

My 2007 123d was Titanium Silver and the print-out from BMW when I got it showed a paint code of 354, but Barty's suggestion would confirm it.

Finally had time to pick the bumper up today. Fitted the grills and lights etc and temp fitted to the car. All looking good and will be done soon. Will be sad to see it go, but so pleased to have saved a Z.IMG_4171.jpegIMG_4170.jpegIMG_4172.jpegIMG_4173.jpeg
