Been following this since day one and admire the dedication to finish the project. Not my cup of tea but it's your vision.

As far as color goes why not wrap it first in the color you think you want and live with that for a but yo see if it us the right one.

Cheers buddy. Appreciate the honesty

You can't wrap onto a shoddy primer finish... you need a decent paint finish to wrap onto first... otherwise you'd have a lumpy bumpy horrible car that looks like it's been wrapped as a gift by my disabled cousin for Christmas... :|

Hello every body! Guess who's back! Apologies yet again for a bit of a break, but the weather has been nice and I have been saving up and I am ready for the last little bits to be done to this bad boy for it's final paint job.

After taking note of all the feedback and the many many comments from people who have seen the car in person I have taken the car into a different body shop to get the car completely re-done back to primer and get this thing absolutely smooth for the final paint job. The prep work going into this car is going to be faultless so the final job is nothing less than showroom perfect.

As you can all see the car is super smooth and all the little niggly bits are being sorted in time for primer.

All these pin holes are going to be filled and the lines re-done

Slight imperfections sorted and making each wing identical to the other side

I think having the lines put back in to sharpen the shapes so the car has a more defined look. Is your best idea to date the overall look is good i think. But it has lost some of the identity and best features of the zed. All of thous sharp lines and styling.

And the bore size of you wheels so i can finish these spacers :poke:

Is that a body shop? They don't run a tidy outfit.

As someone who grew up with a bodyshop (not the cosmetics chain) in the family, I echo this statement.

Ladies... handbags down.

The car has to be stored somewhere... this is the only place wide enough within 400m that I could put it out of the rain. The place i'm getting it done at is a little further away from where these photos were taken. It's only being worked on twice a week so it needs to be moved for other jobs that take priority.

:)

Fair enough. You said you were going to take it to a place to have a professional job done. This didn't look like it

OK, time to re-vitalise this thread a little bit. I apologise again for the lack of updates. Problem is I have been struggling to find someone able to help me out with a few of the electrical issues to get the car through it's MOT. Until it has been MOT'd and taxed I can't really do a lot of the extended testing that needs to occur on the car. I'm worried about various stress fractures occurring along the side skirts where there is now no split in the bodywork like was present on the original Z4.

To remedy this I may have to cut a vertical line through the side skirts where the A pillars are if the bodywork is not strong enough to handle any bending and warping as various driving conditions crop up.

This has left me in the unfortunate position of holding off on the final paint job until I have put 50-100 miles on the car to see if and where any strength issues arise because at the end of the day a finished car would be lovely but if it's unsafe then this entire project would be redundant. So bear with me please x
