Its a bloody shame... Surely these parts will pop up somewhere down the line and will be spotted..

Brad....If your friend (Gary)is subletting the garage from the owner,it is down to Gary to have adequate insurance for the premises, whether it be for theft or public liability.

We are in an identical situation with the commercial premises we rent for our garage.

If the same situation would have happened in our premises, our vehicle insurance cover any damage to any of the cars in our care.. Again whether Gary has any cover for vehicles in his care is down to himself, not the owner of the building..

Just info so you dont spend any money pursuing small claims....

I will double my donation to get the car back up and running...£20...

I didn't think that PayPal gave out a postal address if you were sending funds, only the email address was needed?
You might be right, PM me your paypal address and I'll give you a free 50p so we can find out :-)

Is there no way of claiming from your own car insurance policy? Suppose it could be a minefield if you hadn't yet declared the new mods in progress so they'll probably leave you in the lurch, but perhaps an avenue worth exploring.

I think with the donations racking up already we should start sending payments while we have momentum, I'm personally happy to send my donation whenever as small claims court could take a while.

Dan

This is exactly my point. All modifications were to be declared upon completion of the project so that it was all insured and ready to rock. In my eyes there was little point declaring single mods on my policy as and when they were put on the car as I would be phoning my insurance company every 3 or 4 days as the new parts got fitted and would have been such agro. This means none of the modified parts can be claimed... I can run the risk of claiming oem parts from the car but this would be fraud as these parts where not stolen.

Gutted for you Brad. Some real F*ckers in this country. Looking forward to seeing this once you get back on your feet :)

I've no idea if it is any use - but just a thought - would your home/contents insurance cover any of it? I know sometimes some policies cover stuff randomly, away from home. If we're running out of ideas it maybe worth a look/phonecall.

You're right Stu, I've done a test on this with -Tom- and he didn't get to see my home address - so PayPal will be fine after all

If you've been enjoying reading this thread to see how the build's going and wish to pledge a donation towards the replacement of the stolen items, you can do so here

So what's the plan now for the car? Continue or stop and return it back to a normal Z?

It would be great if you can continue but I bet you would worry every time you left the garage?

Looking at the amount of chopping that's been going on, I reckon that would cost even more than carrying on.

Wtf this sucks, I know how much things you love being stolen from you sucks on lots of different levels :(. Hope you are ok, and I look forward to seeing this project get back on the right tracks again which it inevitably will. :)

Hello All,

Sorry I Didn't post much over the weekend. As you can all understand I'm still very upset over the whole thing and I've been trying my best to re-coup my losses as much as possible by selling a load of car boot rubbish on Sunday with my Mrs. I got rid of 2 guitars, a line 6 amp and a load of old Playstation games, CD players and bits and bobs ammounting to a grand total of £190 to put back into the build. As of this morning I used the car boot money to order a new clear rear 3rd brake light which was nicked and I have started saving for a new set of alloys.

Over the weekend a friend of mine was kind enough to come to my aid and he has lent me a set of 19" MV2 Alloys from an M3. Which although are not the wide rear alloys I had on the car they are enough to get the car off jack stands.

The build is still on hold in terms of the bodywork as we really do need the proper alloys and tyres because the entire arch kit is being fabricated around the way in which the wheels sit in the old arches, we simply cannot 'guess' how far to extend them and begin filling and sanding until we have the proper tyres on the car... HOWEVER I have managed to claw together a few pennies to book a courier to collect my bucket seats all the way from Ayrshire in Scotland so these should be delivered in about 3-4 days. So I will fit these and hopefully do a 'Test to see if the airbag light comes on' after installing my bypass module and transfering over the original belt buckles...

In terms of moving the car to a new location I am still trying to source a new location, however all of the heavy welding equipment needed to do the work on the car is not moveable without some serious shifting around, so I went to B&Q (Local hardware store for you yanks...) bought some metal bars and screws and went about bolting up the window in which the thieves broke in through last week. It gave me a slight tickle and pleasure to walk away from bolting up the windows thinking 'Break in now you f***ers!'

All in all it hasn't been a great weekend, but I am determined to continue with the build... albiet extremely slowly I will have the ability come pay day to possibly reinvest in the front coilovers, not sure if the supplier i used last time can ship in just the front versions, so I will most likely have to re-order an entire SET!! :headbang:

Anyway... Thank you all for your continued support!

Brad,
we currently have pledges of £700 to help you continue the build, let us know when you want us to start paying the money into your PayPal or bank account

Brad chin up mate I think with donations the forum might get you you wheels. Might have to go for cheaper rubber than you had. Like I said about the spacers send them back and I will clean them up for you.

Chin up you will get there. Everyone on hear is on your side and wishing this on with you
