Power Mirror Folding using the Key Fob

The Smarttop module costs a few quid but saves heartache!
Mine was bought from this forum and was removed from my previous E89 to the current car. It has followed me about!

If you do buy a new module, you will get a good chunk of your cash back when/if you sell the car so ultimately they aren't too expensive!

I hope that helps you

Will check it out thank you very much

Try this lot by phone, ask if they’re still doing a Z4 forum discount. I managed to negotiate a 10% discount for forum members but that was a few years ago now

Very helpful and knowledgeable
If all else fails

Does anyone have a link to the correct ODBII adapter from Amazon

There are loads of them and the recommended ones from bimmer are around ÂŁ100 +

Guessing you just pay for the app, get an adapter and you can program it to close mirrors on key fob 🤷🏻‍♂️

Cheers

Amazon search for veepeak odb bluetooth.

It’s about £30 & tested / recommended for bimmercode etc plus the body is easy enough to plug in & remove from the z4 cutout without cutting your fingers.

Ask me how I know.

I just tried this, having enabled the general options.

You also need to code (expert mode):

CAS : FH_KOMFORTF_MIT_SUBST
CTM : KOMFORT_SCHLIESS_FBD89

On my 2011, the second option seems to be called

CTM : KOM_SCHLIESS_FBD_E89

But this doesn't seem to have worked (mirrors not folding/unfolding for me on lock/unlock), so some more investigation is needed.

HOWEVER, somehow I seem to have enabled opening the roof by holding down the key fob. I didn't think this was
possible without Comfort Access, which my car doesn't seem to have!! [And I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a Smart Top]
All very mysterious, but I'm having fun :)

Are you holding the lock button down for about 5 seconds to fold the mirrors?
The roof should open from the fob it just won’t close with it.

In bimmercode expert mode, if you slide your finger down when in the first menu, you can search.

I'm pretty sure the CTM as noted in my message is exactly right..... maybe the reason it has not worked is that you have changed the wrong thing!

Yes, I did wonder whether the code was right.

I searched for KOM in CTM - I didn't get the exact match, but there could be eg a difference from 2011 to 2016 or Bimmercode might have relabelled it. I'll give it another play tonight. It might just be that I'm unfamiliar with the key fob control, as Chippie says!
