Let’s actually maybe have discussion about how, as a driver within many teams it’s not actually an individual level of skill, education, background, ethnicity, nationality that will play a constituent part of being selected as a team driver but more about how much money you can bring into the team, i.e. ‘pay-drivers’. Let’s just explore that lesser-known little phenomenon within the glamorous, dynamic and exciting world of F1 before we start having any meaningful dialogue about ‘racial inclusiveness and diversity’. Lets just discuss the ‘privileged background’ angle first shall we?

Let’s maybe also talk about why there are no deaf or disabled drivers or no female drivers as well shall we? Why not? Oh, wait, because racial equality, BLM and ethnic inclusiveness seems to be the only items on the agenda at the moment. Are there any LGBTQZDS drivers on the current grid? I doubt it, although would we ever be informed? I bet that one would be supressed if any current driver wanted to divulge their position. That would scare the living sh!t out of any F1 sponsors wouldn’t it?

So Lewis claims to have been the ‘only black family on the grid’ since 1993? I’ll need a clarification on that if you don’t mind Lewis, maybe some official statistics thanks, as I’ve been to quite a few GP’s and seen racial diversity in different teams and pit-crews. Has he also forgotten about Karun Chandok and Force India?? Don’t they count Lewis?? Weren’t they black enough??

This for me is someone daring to bite the hand that feeds him. What an entitled, sanctimonious little prick. Just because he’s (justifiably) risen to the top of his sport doesn’t give him any right to start spouting unqualified hyperbole and misinformation about a lack of fkg anything let alone racial diversity!

Get in the fkg bin mate!

A lot of sports are now too politicised for me.
I haven't watched any F1 this year.
I just hope it doesn't spill over to motorcycle racing. Or I'll have nothing to watch sportswise.
If you're good at a sport then that' should be enough.
 
He’s beyond full of himself now. I’ve never been a fan.
It always harks back to times when he would have a good race and he would say in interviews; ‘We’ve had a good day today, the team were on form and we’ve done well.

Then he wouldn’t have a good race and suddenly it was; ‘I’ve been let down today. I performed well but the car and the team let me down’.

Agree with Chris_D and his post above. It’s equality, fairness and understanding but as long as its on his terms and makes him look good.

Lewis is no doubt one of the best racing drivers ever,but all the best in the past have done it with humility and not used their status to be political or influencial outside of their sport. Leave the politics and race arguement.
My sporting heroes are mohammed ali bruce lee mike tyson,
Non of which are white and in all my time off admiration
I never once thought of colour or ethnicity.
Until it has been brought to my attention in the last few years ,shame its been shoved down my throat .
 
But it is also easy enough to switch on the F1, watch the race, appreciate that he is in fact a pretty decent driver, then switch it off.
No-one who is a racing fan is ever forced to pay any attention to all the off track crap.
 
It’s a bit of a beat up on Hammy time but if you’re going to shout so loud it’s gonna happen I guess.

He really doesn’t seem to have much grasp of the real world, never has, he’s the most self obsessed individual I think I’ve ever seen, coupled with an immaturity that he still has. I’m sure he cares in his own silly way, he comes across as a very nice bloke but Christ he’s the biggest hypocrite going, has a complete lack of understanding of the real issues facing the planet regarding the climate, and cherry picks out of a deeply flawed movement regarding race. Hey whose perfect...? No one, but we don’t all go around shoving as much of our hugely flawed ideology down people’s throats a possible. Why does he have to bang on about all the time at races, get upset when some of his fellow competitors don’t do what he wants..? The counter to what Enuff just said is personally I like all the crap before and after a race, well, I did, but I’ve stopped watching, I cannot stand to hear anymore of Hammys bleating in and out of the car. Poor old me...what a shame, but he’s put me off a sport I love, he’s single handedly doing his best to increase the tippy toe, can’t say this, can’t say that bollocks that’s engulfing us in all walks of life, maybe it has a place but not in sport when that sport is under way. If he wants to use his huge profile to bring more awareness to a cause do it away from work, no problem, but I don’t pay to watch Hamilton spout his hugely inaccurate rubbish at a sporting fixture.

Of course I’m perfect so I’m entitled to say stuff...... :P :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink:

Totally agree. It's the only way I'll watch F1 these days. I used to enjoy the build up & the post race chat but not these days. As for Lewis, it is beyond doubt that he is a great driver but his self centred BS really gets my goat. If he crawls any further up his own ar?e he'll disappear!
 
The reason I followed F1 as a kid was racers like Moss, Stewart, Lauda, etc who were sporting gladiators. The reason I don't follow F1 now is characterless prima donna like Lewis flouncing around, also the boring digital cars to some degree.

Yep, I won’t bother with next season at all as it’ll be another year as this one with the same meaningless outcome.

Roll on 2022 when hopefully we’ll have a big stir up with the new cars and aero.
 
It’s ironic that undeniably the best racing driver of all time is putting people off watching and supporting the sport he represents because of his own personal views. :roll:

At the end of the day the most high profile sportsman in the world at the moment is using his fame and F1 to voice his opinion and push BLM forward, no different to those that like to voice their opinion on here. The difference is on here we are no bodies and Lewis or Raheem Sterling are high profile sportsman. I would prefer to watch F1 and football without seeing people kneeling but then I’m not a black man or woman.
You can’t knock him for doing what he believes in.
Perhaps our black Forum members could comment so we can hear both sides.
