I will check it as soon as possible when I'm back @home.

Done!

What shall I say?
You are a bit correct.
I'm a bit more correct.

If you pull the emergency grip, both latches completely open and the lid can be pushed up. What you hear in addition is, that both motors turn into their initial open position.

But I've done this test for a second time without a connected battery!

If you pull the emergency grip once again, both latches completely open as well. Both motors stay in their locked position due to the missing power supply, but the lid can be pushed up even without a connected battery.

1:0 for me. :icb: :ant:

Well that is good to know :)

Their response (after connecting to their upmarket software) was that the 'roof had got out of sync' and the sensors were having a 'hissy fit'
That's nonsense! There can't get any "out of sync".

obewan said:
They reset it all and said it was now working fine and should also be cycling quicker than it was.
Nonsense! There is noothing that can be resetted.

obewan said:
The bad news was that it wasn't covered by the warranty, but as the bill was only £100 he wasn't particularly bothered
That was indeed very cheep compared to all the other nonsense tasks billed by BMW garages or indies. 8)

Well you were right RobbiZ4.
His roof has failed again.
They are now saying after 'sending the codes away for analysis' it's the roof module.
Hopefully it's covered by his warranty, bad news is the supplier is currently closed.

Can you provide any details? Even the roof module (if we are talking about the CTM) hardly ever fails.

No sorry, only reference was to the 'module'

Well, save your car from this garage, push Covid away and make a trip to good old Europe. Or invite me for a fresh beer... :icb:

Thanks for the offer, tempting, but it's my mates car not mine.
Touch wood mines Ok

Just to update on my roof problem, it is now fixed and working as it should. Problem reported as being a broken wire on the left rear shell micro switch. The garage repaired the wire rather than replacing any components and assure me all should be good.

Only light damage to the wallet at £70 :D

For a garage repair that was a bargain..you got away very light!

Glad to hear you've sorted it
Interesting as I'm having a similar problem with mine now
Although roof operation is generally ok, I'm getting a bong/red window warning when cornering (LH)

Code same as you (A68B), plus A697 - Roof shell 2 open during driving

I picked up a new M/S today - PN 543-772-27397
BMW parts guy said he sold 1 a month!
In the local indie garage on Monday - fingers crossed

Just for info - I looked around on-line and the cheapest part was £38ish
BMW price £24.40

Fingers crossed indeed mate. Certainly sounds like something is breaking down somewhere along the line.

I was braced for a big bill due to how complex these roofs are, and opted for a garage that had previous experience with these systems for this reason. When they called to say they had found the problem and told me the cost, I genuinely thought they were giving me the diagnostic cost and the repair bill was to follow

I hope your repair is as reasonable as mine was.

That’s a result, where is this garage out of interest & what's it called?

You may know the area actually rob, as I am sure I read in one of your posts that your parents were Essex way.

The garage is in Great Dunmow and is called Dunmow Motor Services.

It was my first time using them, but they came highly recommended, and given my first experience I would have to say I agree!

Yes, I know the area as I used to live in Chelmsford. It’s a bit far for me now though as I moved to Somerset! :o

I think things worked out better for you than they did me. I started out in Saffron Walden, and relocates to Northamptonshire
