North Wales Run Sunday 10th April

You're all incredibly fast! I put this down to either me having the smallest engine in the group (probable) or that I don't have the skills to keep up (definite).

How on earth you guys drive as fast as you do, I'll never know. I might have to look into driver training...

Glad you still enjoyed the runs despite us going a bit quick, we get carried away too easily :)

It's defintiely nothing to do with the engine size, you'll get used to the car quickly and be throwing it into corners with reckless abandon in no-time! Don't feel pressured to keep up though, it's best when everyone gets to drive at their own pace and there's usually people driving much slower - you were just a bit unlucky to have a bunch of fast drivers out on Sunday! :)

Great day out though, I'm sunburnt to hell despite having slapped on the factor 30 in the morning - brilliant organisation by John again, great roads and atmosphere.

Can't wait for the next one!

SpikedJuice - hope you didn't think it was rude of me to overtake you and that silver Vectra at the start of the Evo triangle, I just wanted to drive it at my own pace. Was great to finally drive the famous Evo triangle at speed and I can definitely see what all of the fuss is about - pure adrenaline! :driving:

Oh, no worries! Someone else (in the blue coupe) also overtook me at the start of the Evo Triangle but I understand - my pace is somewhat off from the rest of the group!

Ah, thanks :) There was a part where we took a wrong turn and ended up on the wrong side of the lake. Thanks for guiding us back to the rest of the group! When you punched the sky, I was puzzled for a moment. But as soon as you floored it, it all made sense :D

I thought I would give a little write up of how the day went from our car:

The day started well enough, with the bright summer sunshine showing everyone's Z4 in the most glamourous light. Except for my rather unwashed offering! A busy working weekend meant that I had no time to clean my ride.

I've only had my car for a couple of weeks and it is easily the fastest car I've owned. A first timer to a meet of this kind too. But John was very welcoming and I had a nice chat to both him and Craig. I felt surprisingly at ease with everything, despite not knowing where we were, and exactly what we were about to head off to!

Right from the off, there was an indication that this was going to be a fast ride. The grey M3 roadster in the convoy roared past just as we were heading to the motorway. I knew I was going to have a tough time holding on!

From then on, it was a thrilling ride occasionally punctured by slowing down for the general public to ride past on their bicycles or getting lost at the tailend of the group!

There was a moment in the Evo triangle where I punched it down a long dipping straight, plunging into the forest. I could feel the wind pouring in through the sides and for a moment, everything slowed down. I never looked at the speedometer, but judging from the screams in the passenger seat, I think we were going fast enough!

I felt on the edge of control a few times, especially on raised parts where the car would lift up. I couldn't see where the road was for a fraction of a second. Coupled with the feeling that the car had limited grip, both my heart and breath froze. I seriously thought I had lost it. But the car nose would dip and the road magically appear again, guiding me to the next challenge. It's a good job I told my girl to check the map during these moments. Whilst I was thinking we were about to die, she was trying to figure out which side up the map was, blissfully unaware of anything.

I never thought the car could go so fast. It was a wonderful experience and one that I hope to enjoy again in the future!

What a fantastic day out with some very fun and technical roads - great to put some names to faces :D

Sods law struck though upon leaving to get petrol, offside rear coil spring (i suspect) made an almighty bang/twang when taking it easy. I can't see if it has failed but I now have a slight jingly rattle on that side and the arch gap may be a bit smaller - what a pain :(

Bad luck on the spring/but at least u had fun prior to it snapping.
welcome to the list,i have now replaced both my rear springs in the last few yrs!

Meant to say,Adam, how long have u had the m roadster for, since u joined the forum or is it a more recent purchase/and if so,what did u have before?

Spikedjuice(sorry, hard to remember every1's real names  )

Glad u had a good time, even if u did get lost, etc ,lol. and as others have said, there were alot of quick drivers on the run, even other newbies, and on other runs there are a few who take it bit slower.u never got completely lost/thats the main thing.
The idea is to go at your own pace, and not to have an accident.
Was good chatting to u,and hope u can make it along to either tha Lakes or Dales meets (sat/sun 2nd/3rd of july....see meets section "national meet").

Good review :D

Great day out, warm weather/roofs down and good company. :)
Got home last night after a longer than expected drive, leaving starbucks arnd 6.10pm,and going just 20miles in over an hour!!
did any1 else get stuck in that traffic jam?(sammyz, siftah??)

Was a great day,and good to see/meet some of the newbies to the meets, and put some more faces to names,as well as getting to catchup with familiar faces.
Great organisation again,John, and some more great roads. some of the sheer drops were interesting, and the front 4/5 kept pace with each other qt well, the rest catching up eventually,lol..... :poke:

Roll on the start of july Lakes meet :driving:

....On that note, anyone who enjoyed this meet, should get their names down on the list for the Lakes/Dales meets, that myself and John(sammyz),are organising, on the Sat 2nd and Sun 3rd of July(one day or both/whatever u can manage),if u havnt as yet.
It is along the same lines, with the addition of a Fri/Sat night bbq,and some good banter also. :D

Has any1 got some more pics of the meet,as i was too busy driving to take many?,i.e any1 with passengers that got good photos,as would be nice to see them posted

My apologies to everyone for being late to the party and then getting repeatedly lost around the place

I actually quite liked the more leisurely pace you set, made a more relaxing drive, and was able to take pics and absorb the scenery while driving.

Currently stranded at BMW chelmsford whilst they source a coil spring it snapped a few inches from the top :(

Sorry to hear this... but the plus point least it happened under warranty.... the surface on some of those roads would test any springs!!

Very very nice pics.....makes Hampshire run look like it's done in the ghetto!

Thanks for the nice comments, guys. I'll pass them on to my girlfriend - she'll appreciate them, I'm sure! She actually hasn't seen any of the photos yet. I just went through and resized them.

Great photos Z8Cookie! Looking forward to seeing your videos too! I'd like to see how fast things were at the front of the pack! 8)
