Norfolk Zed Rescue

Thanks for getting back to me, that sounds perfect and kind of what I'm looking for. Help or signposting would be greatly appreciated.

Just picked up the PM thanks, I'll be in touch shortly.
Thinking back a few months. Is yours an E86 and was it at Whitlingham Lakes by the coffee shop?

Just to get the thread back on track, Vall and I met up with Graeme this morning. Lovely black E86 in extremely clean condition. Reset about 20 years worth of old codes and cleared the engine light.
Didn't occur to me at the time, but Graeme said about 1000 miles back the engine light came on and a garage charged him £90 to clear it, saying it 'may' come back. But for that money they didn't even go into any other systems and clear any codes from them! Robbers!
Anyway, the issue appears to be the inlet vanos solenoid playing up. For now we have reset the code and will see what happens. I'm doing a full oil service on the car in the next month or so. At that point I will take out both solenoids, clean them and put them back in the opposite positions. So if the light comes back we will then see if the fault has moved to the exhaust side.

£90? Honestly, the distrust of the industry is built on this rubbish, and they don’t understand that being honest, fair and not ripping people off is what builds sustainable business.

It’s why Attleborough is worth the drive - even if the next visit will be driving with my Zed on a trailer

This weekend NZR went international, with a visit to Dublin to meet [ref]carpetmanjoe[/ref]. I took a selection of airbag modules with me (I did wonder if airport security would pull me for them, but no problem at all, phew!) and I was able to use one of them to successfully clear Joe's airbag light. Then we spent an entertaining hour or two replacing the drivers door window regulator.
I have to say, working in a heated double garage with its own beer fridge is a great step up from my gravel drive at home. :D

Joe and his lovely wife, Teresa, were the epitome of the perfect hosts, putting me up overnight, taking me out for a pub meal with copious amounts of Guinness, then producing the most impressive full English before dropping me back at the airport. (And yes, for the pedants, it was a full 'English' as it included baked beans, which I'm told a full 'Irish' doesn't.)

It wasn't a cheap undertaking for Joe, with all my travel costs, but I think we got everything done for around half of what he was quoted to simply supply and fit the window regulator.
Nobody over there could obtain the SBSL he needed, let alone consider coding it.

Thanks Joe, for an extremely enjoyable couple of days. Made a couple of great new friends and saved another zed. 8)
