Newbie with a serious tuning disorder.

Zeds looking really good Stevie - wow - love the alloys
Hi Marlon. The alloys are great looking, but there's times when I'm thinking aftermarket would look better. Any how's can't justify spending more in the project as there's hopefully a number of events I'd rather attend with fellow members. A real bonus for me is how low fuel prices are this year. Our Alps road trips around 2200mls, so ain't going to be frugal venture but hopefully a very memorable event.

It would be fantastic to see the V10 @ Zedfest Shepshed Leic's Aug 14.
Show it in front of 200 other Z's.
Now I potentially could drive south mid April and just attend BMW events for around 6 months, but that doesn't pay the bills. Wonder if I could start a fund raiser for my extended event schedule ?

When its totally finished send the blueprints to Munich ,they may learn something.
Or get the message of what is expected from the consumer

This has been a great thread to follow I take my hat off to you sir :hattip: You should be in charge of the M division in Munich

That is looking gorgeous

It's so innocent ... There are going to be a few very surprised wannabe racers round your way soon
Never thought of it as innocent Bing, but looking at pics it is rather staid looking. I think the beemer would struggle against some of my customer's cars I've put together, 560/580 bhp V10 would only win on its sound track against them. What they don't have is character/soul, just wooshe's and external farts.
I feel the days of the N/A engines are really nearing there end, just because of ever stringent fuel emissions.

Amen to that. I don't think it looks staid, you've totally managed to keep it sane on the outside, concealing its lunacy. I really like that - it's not shouty, appallingly styled or otherwise spoilt. Tell you what though, I'd bang some aero side skirts on it, just for the hell of it. Nothing more :D

I totally agree with you on aero, but I never got round to it. Actually kicking myself for not covering it when panels at body shop. Hey ho another to ad on to do list.

Often wonder what Munich would've charged for a similar product when new. When you see what cars like E92 M3 GTS's were new it's quite scary.

Now that would be a real challenge as head of M division.

Toyota sounds interesting ?
I've been completing a number of items that were nearly there.
Modified rear stay bars and bumper plate I made to support it .
Steering rack now fitted with spacers to restrict travel, big brakes probably just too big to clear bottom wishbone hence spacers!
Tonight I knocked up a couple of drop brackets for the custom roll bar that's required. .
Still more to do like screen washer bottle that needs to be fitted in passenger side front bumper, but we're making progress. Would like to possibly see about mot next week if weather permits.

Just curious Stevie as to why the bar that the replaces the track rod end to the hub is so long, I know why you're using rose joints but there looks to be plenty of room to have the steering arm further up so it could virtually touch the hub which would lessen the lever effect which would be what you wanted in my mind? Less tendency to snap, although I'm sure it's made of a hardened steel, and the shorter the bar the less chance for it to develop some play through wear etc. There's obviously a reason for it but I can't think what it is.

Anyhoo just idle curiousity.

Yeah its a lexus 4.0L V8 as you know its been a lot of fabrication work. Almost done on the fab. just need to put the gearbox back together. We cut and shut a 5 speed BM box onto the auto bell housing. Lots of measuring cutting and machining required! We are starting to wire the ecu this weekend.

Your car is looking great Steve really nice quality build. You just dont know how much work is involved until its too late to turn back!! Keep us all updated as this is without a shadow of a doubt the best thing being built on hear.

Just can't wait to see and hear this Q car, as Bing has said it looks just like any normal zed (apart from the quads) and a testament to your tastes and skill

Hi John. My Mk2 Escort quick rack that's now fitted has been fitted in a totally different position to standard. This was because the V10 sump is very bulky and wouldn't allow the rack to sit in or near original position. I've had to have these spacers machined to bring the steering arms back into alignment to correct bump steer. When we set up geo's we maybe able to reduce the length.

Not very interesting but screen washer bottle now tucked in front bumper and remote filler ready to be positioned under bonnet.
Still to plumb in and extend wiring from under bonnet.
Machine monkey sounds like a real challenge, especially setting up fork and release bearing. Lots of head scratching.
