Newbie with a serious tuning disorder.

Sorry to hear this Steve. Glad your on the mend now by the sound of things. Cars can wait your health can't.

But I am glad to hear the car is coming along also. The only reason I asked I do have a crazy idea to put a bigger v shaped engine in a zed myself. But I think it would be more track focused so probably ditching air bags traction control and most of the electronics. So fingers crossed a bit simpler to do.

Very much looking forward to seeing this car somewhere soon.

Keep well buddy

Glad your on the mend stevie,
Mat the guy that that put the v10 in a e46 used a standalone ecu, can't remember which type off hand but can find out if you like

hope your on the mend steve, like monkey says health comes 1st.

hopefully u can fit the car in for a few less hours and still get it finished to a standard u are happy with and get her running sweet and in time to enjoy her through the summer so all the hard work is worth it

Thanks lads, and yes I'm on the mend. As for your dream I'd probably look at M3 V8 set up with manual box. It'll be far easier when your doing the crossmember setup. I've seen 5sp boxes fitted to these V10/8's, you need to modify where the starter sticks thru. Normally 525tds box is cheaper solution than M3 6sp. Would be interesting to see how much weight you could get it down to?

I am tempted to use a m70b50. Or another non m v8. The end goal would be to Run forced induction of some kind. But like I say I can't see funds being available for anything like that for a long time!!

Nothing like making it a bit more difficult. I thought V10 was tricky, V12 Mmm. You'll have your work cut out with that transplant, if my knowledge is any use feel free to ask. Had a quick look and I found a 750il for £1400 with power steering problem and a couple of electrical gremlins. It's fairly local to me (Falkirk) but miles from you.

Yeah well if I am going to do it!! I just think a blow V12 would be fun to build  I wouldn't do this to my zed I would be looking for a coupe. But I also fancy building a manual 6 series with this engine. But it's all pie in the sky until I find the funds!!

Anyway less of this we want to hear about your car

A non blown v10 build already takes 2 years to complete (still no mot). How much work would a FI v12 be? (and cost might be an issue....)
I don't mind working on cars, but with all the integrated electronics my first choice wouldn't be german stuff.
I mean for example an mx5 with an lsi v8 is much simpeler. not only the fitment (and it has been done many times, so a lot of pre made stuff), but mostly the electronics I guess.
If I read this build, the electronics is taking up the most time (and probably also the cost I imagine)

To simplify I'd supercharge it as tucking turbo's down by the chassis rails would be extremely tight. It would be less tricky with something like a Rotrex blower.

Like I say it's just a dream and if things go as planed. A little monkey will hopefully be drooped off by a stork sometime this year. So there is next to no chance of me having the cash!!!

A big rootes blower on top of an intercooler, sitting in the middle of the VEE.

Obviously too high for the bonnet, so a hole in the bonnet with the supercharger and throttlebodies sticking out....mad max style!!
interceptor 2.0 :yeah:

Eventually we have a custom set of KW clubsport's shocks. <a href="http://s1018.photobucket.com/user/Stevie1962/media/2016-01/026697B6-CD66-48B9-A94F-DC84057EB315.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1018.photobucket.com/albums/af305/Stevie1962/2016-01/026697B6-CD66-48B9-A94F-DC84057EB315.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 026697B6-CD66-48B9-A94F-DC84057EB315.jpg"/></a>
They are a very impressive piece of kit, I'll need to take more pics and post up. <a href="http://s1018.photobucket.com/user/Stevie1962/media/2016-01/5EEAB058-4316-478A-9DF6-65F309600D8D.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1018.photobucket.com/albums/af305/Stevie1962/2016-01/5EEAB058-4316-478A-9DF6-65F309600D8D.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 5EEAB058-4316-478A-9DF6-65F309600D8D.jpg"/></a>
