Am I the only one gutted to see the cars slowly being ruined for the pursuit of "entertainment." ......

What's cool or fun about seeing a lotus destroy itself trying to come down a mountain pass. Dunno.. i prefered the olden day
top gears which used to actually do reviews.

I couldn't agree with you more, it was actually painful watching such beautiful car's being trashed :(

They paid for them though, so it's theirs to do as they please.

Who's to say the cars were even road worthy before they bought them? They could've been sat rotting away in garages and have been given a new lease of life (albeit a very short one).

Also, it shows the younger kids who watch the show the vehicles of the recent past. I doubt many kids have heard of a Lotus Esprit before. Now, they'll all be wanting one on their wall and a hotwheels 1:43 model.

My fave of these was Vietnam which ironically was on bikes and was genuinely entertaining. Although yet to see part 2 last nights episode was really just plain boring and the 3 of then didn't really appear to be enjoying it to any great extent. Will see what part 2 brings but I don't think it will be much better to watch. I guess they're running out of ideas for the show now.

I preferred Mays Toy Story which was on later, I always wandered how an Action Man would fare doing supersonic speeds :)

Tim.

I always preferred the race against each other...one in a supercar and the others on transport. It would be good to race three cars across Europe....

Would be good if you were currently trying to sell one of the 3 cars shown 8)
no doubt internet searches on them increased during & after the show

Something you would like to share with us mr wilks? :D

Wonder if the traffic police is preparing a case as JC admitted to driving up to 170 mph in 1994. As they seem to have unlimited funds for those sort of things … :x

Country in economic trouble always looks for a reason elsewhere ….

Didn't he say something like " a car capable of cruising at 170mph" ?

Yes, you are probably right, carefully stated to avoid getting BRAKE going nuts :D

However stating that the any slower car would have made him be too late probably implies sufficient

I was once stopped by the police for doing 145 on the M4 round about that sort of time.

They just wanted a look round the car - told me to take care and sent me on my way.

changed days :)

They are tools and the whole wrecking perfectly good cars which have genuinely been loved has got on my goat for years now. Saying that I do like clarkson anytime of day but genuinely felt sad when he gave the reason for the 928 choice, a very genuine reason.

This one is doing nothing to stop boy wonder next to me wanting to blow a small fortune on a V8 of some sort. I'm trying to convince him to get a proper RR instead of a Masserati GT but he's now thinking RR Sport V8  otherwise I'll have the Masserati please, just need to find a dealership where we could actually park outside whilst deliberating!

Range Rover or Range Rover Sport? V8 fuel consumption is savage, believe me. I had one. Could barely manage 8mpg but what a sound!!!

TDV8 is another matter....
