New Apple iPhone 4g?

Mine upgraded fine as well but it will be on ebay at the weekend as my HTC Desire was delivered this afternoon. I'm well impressed with the HTC so far. :D

Me too, I sold my 3GS and got a desire, haven't looked back, but I did use the money to buy an iPad so have best of both worlds :D

The HTC is fantastic! It makes the "grid" of icons on the iPhone seem totally restrictive - a highly configurable device. The screen is fantastic.

Noticed a queue of around 500 people this morning outside the Glasgow Apple store, queuing down Buchanan street and round to St Vincent street as well as up Buchanan street and round to Nelson Mandela place.

Noticed quite a few people at apple store in Cambridge. Found out no units available so I came and stopped at the vodafone store in Newmarket. Good thing I did. I was number 2 in line with 10 units available. I must say the forum is looking pretty good on my shiny iPhone 4!

Snap!

I was in Oldham at 8am and the first in the line at the Orange store. The o2 shop opened at 8am and at least 30 people were waiting. I managed to be the first through the door and got the only 32gig model they had, apparently they'd got 15 of the 16gig models and those looked like they were on track for selling out by about 10am.

Loving the handset, screen is gorgeous and it feels incredibly well made in the hand. I can see the signal drop sometimes when I hold it in a certain way (as others are reporting), but it seems no worse than the 3GS, it's just much quicker to report a change in signal strength. I suspect it's a quirk of the different baseband rather than a design issue, though I guess time will tell :)

Looking at the Orange site last night at midnight, it briefly showed they were available, then went down. Came back up about 15 mins later with the ability to order... so I started to order me some shiny shiny... only to find the numpties had put phone number AND email validation on the email fields, so it was actually impossible to continue :(

Got up this morning and they'd sold out... so went to Orange store; sold out
But nay matter, more in by Sunday got one reserved. In and out in 5 minutes :)

Funny though, the guy in the store was still trying to sell the phone to me as I was signing the paperwork... had to laugh when he told me it's got "Retina Recognition". Would've thought Mr Jobs would have made a bigger deal of such a feature in his keynote!

I think they're overstating it a bit, I've seen it drop a little if I hold it really tight, but in practice it's getting better signal than my 3GS and much better data speeds (though the 3GS is on o2!)

Video of me demonstrating it here: http://gallery.me.com/siftah#100062 or YouTubed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sf-voXVZ5Q

From the front you have to look hard to see the difference between the phones in your vid.

Watch it in 1080p and you see the difference in the screen quality - it's pretty special when it's in your hand :)

Does face time only work when contacting someone else with an iPhone 4 though? :?

Why would we want to talk to anyone else?

What he said

FaceTime is only between iPhone 4 users at the mo' but the technology is an open standard from Apple so expect to see it implemented on PC/Mac chat clients and other phones in future.
