New 911s all turbocharged

Nope - just signing the 2 year warranty extension on the targa - which y Porsche GB are allowing you to run out to 15 years rather than the 10 years before hand- good news .

Notice i was careful in my use of Carrera above - for me the 911-50 fixed some of the issues i had with the 991.1 Carrera rear end (mainly the vents)

How much is warranty for that? I it very much mileage dependent?

I think you should be Ok on the Mileage

its about 1.1k a year - the only thing you save if you take it over two years is the 111 point check that you must get done before you take it out .

More Details...

Car Can be up to 15 years old and have less than 125,000 miles - last warranty period can be taken out at either 14th year or 13th year depending on whether you take 2 or 1 year extension.

24 months 1840 with an additional 275 for the assistance

I assume they've bolstered the warranty extensions to support the work supply demand for the new Porsche classic centres they've opened.

...I actually think this is a good thing as one of the new centres is outside Glasgow, and gives you a bit more confidence if you're planning on an older 911.

tend to agree - the great thing is it means a choice you can continue down the OPC route probably with warranty or decide to go to one of the many high quality independents .

Can I ask, have you had any troubles with IMS or bore scoring?

I recently almost bought a 997, but it turned out to be not as expected. Talking to the guys that carried out the pre purchase inspection, it seems that ones without problems are few and far between now?

Nope I chose Gen II so a different engine configuration - the Gen I bore scoring /IMS seems to have a massive amount of varying views on it from at one extreme all 997 Gen I s will exhibit at some point to .. only a small fraction of the produced cars have actually exhibited a problem. The Gen IIs archilles heel has not yet been found but i guess its a matter of time.

and every view in between - the Gen I 997 is starting to gain a similar reputation to 996s ( although 996 prices are now on the rise) but then again i know quite a few happy owners who have not experienced the two main issues.

911UK is a good place to gain info on the particular model it just lacks the friendly banter of over here .

A friend of mine went to Silverstone today courtesy of Porsche UK to test drive the new model(s). He is on his 3rd Turbo, which is presumably why he got an invite and I didn't!

Actually not too sure about this one.. The styling looks a little finneky for me and the interior a little too clustered.. the rear bumper and the rear louvre and badges everywhere look a bit too fussy for my liking. Don't love the ideao of turbos only either

Modern eco cars are saddening me lately

Just read this today -must be quite some beast the new Turbo S

That the Turbo S will do a lap around the industry-standard Nurburgring in 7 minutes 18 seconds, some two seconds faster than the track-biased GT3 RS, reveals a lot about the competition within Porsche, too. The 911 Turbo S is fast – quite indecently so.

991.2 Turbo S faster round the ring than the 991.1,GT3RS .... How does that work?
