4 or maybe 5 fwd gears is all you really need. The rest are just added weight. I enjoy changing gear it's a large part of the experience for me. I'm no racer, so I don't care about shaving tenths off my 0-60. Nor do I care much about saving a few mpg, so an auto is not on my Christmas list.
I can see how an auto might work on a commute, as. On days when I take the Z to work I tend to shift from 2nd to 4th to 6th. But once driving it properly, I need it to be a challenge, that’s kind of the point for me. So doubt I will ever want an auto, in a sports car, whilst I have all my faculties. :?
