new 8 speed auto box

4 or maybe 5 fwd gears is all you really need. The rest are just added weight. I enjoy changing gear it's a large part of the experience for me. I'm no racer, so I don't care about shaving tenths off my 0-60. Nor do I care much about saving a few mpg, so an auto is not on my Christmas list. :P

I can see how an auto might work on a commute, as. On days when I take the Z to work I tend to shift from 2nd to 4th to 6th. But once driving it properly, I need it to be a challenge, that’s kind of the point for me. So doubt I will ever want an auto, in a sports car, whilst I have all my faculties. :?

I had a SLK AMG55 It was a fantastic car but with the worst gearbox ever made (7 speed auto) If it had been a manual I would probably still have it now, Although I must admit the new pdk's and alike do appear to be much better although I have not tried one my self, I have had a couple of SMG boxes and they where great when you were out for a blast but very clonky around town, So I will stick with my manual for now as it feels good to be fully in charge of what I am doing,

The Aventador doesn't come in manual for a reason. I think Lamborghini is done with manual on all their cars. MTs are dying.

yeah, Audi needed something dearer than the £4k to fix an RS6 auto box...
