This is incredible. How did I miss this thread?

Do you have any more videos of it running? Any more photos of the install?

UK dynos normally read crank..

Technically no, Dyno's always read either Hub or Wheel HP, and back-calculate Crank HP /BHP by by applying a transmission loss factor.

UK dyno readouts always tend to be the converted BHP figure, as it's bigger so makes people feel happier

However, how have I missed this thread- this is a cracking project!! Nice one OP, looking forward to more updates as they come!! 8)

Yes you’re correct ..I should have said…UK dyno charts usually are crankshaft based by reversing the calculation based on the actual measurement.. :tumbleweed:

What it does mean that if you track your favourite dyno operator and see how various stock cars perform with their published and subsequent dyno figures it’s interesting to see..

My local dyno guy has done 1,000s of stock cars and tunes so interesting to see those manufacturers with over stated and understated figures..BMW latterly seems spot on to sligly understated..

Actually nothing to add for this project, after two years the project completed. This summer I had 6 track day events and drove approximately 3000km… no major issues only minor adjustments. Plan for the winter, replace front callipers for brembo 4-pots (currently from e90 335i), front brake cooling, short quick steering rack… and main focus will be on interior

What a fantastic project. This is where I'd love to take my E85, but the wider concern is that I'd be burying loads of money in a car that would never be worth very much. Although that assumes I'd ever want to sell it after I'd done the work...

If it helps I'd have cut my losses and sold my M years back if that had been my mindset! Life's too short to worry about resale values, just do what makes you happy!! 8)

Very fair. I buried £12k in a £3k R53 Mini track project over the course of 18mths before buying my first Z4, and I ultimately ruined it for doing the things I enjoy (roadtrips, country lanes etc.). I always have this nagging feeling that starting with a car that's closer to what I want would be better than making a car I enjoy more compromised.

I've been close to just selling the Z4 and buying an OG M2 on several occasions, but the thing that holds me back is the lack of convertible roof. If such thing as a convertible M2 existed, I wouldn't own a Z4. I've also looked at what would be required to get a 35iS to M2 levels of performance, and was concerned that I'd be ruining an OK car by forcing a square peg into a round hole.

Your Mini story sounds like the story of almost every car I've ever owned

I do have a real hankering for an M2 - honestly I'd prefer the Comp styling, but manual box and OG engine cause the S55 engine sounds shite! The problem is every time I get half serious about it I just look at how special the Zed looks and how special it feels to drive and think 'naah I can't get rid of it'

Fair enough on the convertible thing, least you know what you want! Not generally my cuppa (I prefer the looks and chassis rigidity of the coupes) but that being said I'd still secretly love a Honda S2000 - drove one once, it was bloody brilliant!

I definitely agree with the E89-->M2C performance- it's just not set up to be 'that' car. You COULD do it, I'm not disputing that (before B21 et al. jump on me) it'd just be against the whole feel of the car imo.

Anyway we're well off topic now  sorry OP!
