N52 Waterpump fail symptoms and fault code?

Yes m8, BMW water pump with new one use bolts was £508 (eek!!), thermostat was £92 and oil filter housing was £163. I also got them to do the oil and filter change too and they flushed and replaced the coolant as well.

So you definitely saved a whack of cash buying your own parts. As I said though in this instance it was more convenient for me to just drop it off then pick it up and pay the damage/take the hit. New house we are moving to has a massive double garage so I'll have more scope in the future to do a bit more DIY myself but time pressures were on me this time unfortunately.

I wonder why they didn’t source exactly the same pump from pierburg & save you a couple of hundred pounds?
It’s understandable from a bmw dealer but not from an Indy

Ouch. :o

When my E86 needed one in 2016 my Indy bought it from BMW and billed me £420.84 + VAT. Next time when my 325i needed one in 2018 he must have sourced it elsewhere as he "only" billed £301 + VAT.

But the main thing is you have your car back with a new pump.

That was mainly down to my decision. They said they could get a BMW waterpump the next day at the price I posted. But sourcing a Pierburg would have taken me through until next week before it arrived. They suggested I wait as the pumps are identical but due to time pressures I've already mentioned regarding house moving, I said to just go ahead and get the BMW one and I'd suck up the extra cost.
