Iv owned my Z4 18months now this week. These where the sellers photos from Autotrader
Previously I had a VERY tuned up and modified imported MR2 and told myself the next car I buy ill leave as it was, so and I blame this site and you lot for making me want to adapt my perfectly decent 2.0lt i Sport. Lol
You could say I should have just bought a ZM but being the smallest least powerful engine in the range was never a issue to me, it suits me, its cheap yet still very fun. I wanted something less complicated to run, so im happy with that.
From day one those I always thought the ugly pointless spaz oval exhaust that didn’t even fit the bumper recess HAD TO GO, but id leave it at just changing that. So I had a bespoke (£150) stainless steal box made with twin round slashed cut, inward rolled pipes (bit of a mouth full), but it looks the part, with out looking over the top.
Then I realized that the M-Sport steering wheel with phone buttons didn’t actually work, and never would (hufff)! Why do that? So phoned around a few places and a nice man came and put a Parrot in my glove box (lol). He also put in a module to make the existing steering wheel buttons work perfectly, all for £295 fitted
That was that I thought.......... but then visited my friend who works at Rtech in St-Albans and he had just fitted a SuperChip to his other halfs BMW 120 M-Sport. Power increases are a staggering 7-9%
but when you consider the 2.0lt has something like 158bhp thats not actually much power lol they have had a 320i rolling road'ed and with a panel filter and cat-back exhaust upgrade it pushes out 187bhp. Its more about throttle response though, it makes it LOADS more sharp, and "Apparently" increases fuel economy (but it promotes a heavy right foot to while driving which easily cancels that out!) . So that was fitted as it was only £170. That'll do now.
Then it started to Nag at me that the wheel's sit in so far, almost like when other car have a space-save wheel fitted, lol. So back to Rtech for some Spacers, 20mm at the back and 12mm at the front. £190
Oh and then it annoyed me that the design of the front bumper was a little bit of a after thought, it didn’t really do the aggressive lines of the car justice compared to the ZM bumper that really compliments the rest of the car....... (can you see where this is going?)
I found a grey M Bumper on ebay and collected it from Chelsea (in our Mini lol) for £160, but had to pay some ridiculous amount for the 2 side air-scoops and brackets from BMW (I think they where £80-£90 total). Luckily a friend owed me a favour and he happens to own Custom Exotics in Harlow (google them) and cleaned the bumper up, re-painted and fitted the bumper and mopped the car for £300. I swear the paint job on the bumper is better than BMW did on the previous one.
So that’s all done, but the previous owner had private plates, so when I bought the car they stuck on the worst cheapest plates money could buy so seeing as the bumper was going on I got some new Euro plates from the original dealers Specialist Cars with their name on. Another £30
So im dead happy with the car (that I was already happy with), thats enough so leave it there.... hmm. But you know if you watch certain things on ebay (for example ZM wheels') and months latter ebays home page shows you “things you might like” well that happened a few times and I really started to get obsessed with finding myself a set.
This isnt helped by forum members posting Z4 items they have seen on ebay. So no thanks to you guys I now have a lovely set on shiny new wheels on Falken rubber, possibly the best deal I have ever got off ebay too!
(there not stone chips, its just a weird photo effect / reflection of the road)
WILL THIS EVER END???
