My soul was nearly crushed... By a 1 series.

But isn't it always the case when you step from a top of the range powerful car to a low to mid range motor your just going think its rubbish, so many times I've seen these kinda threads on forums

Miss my old E87, it wasn't perfect but a design of the times, hated it when it first came out in 2004? but grew to see what a fab shape it was :)

Loved getting all the BMW Performance bits and pieces and fitting them, which makes the E89 for me slightly duller to own as theres not that much you can do to it :(

Tim.

Yep probably.

Yep probably.

But a flawed assumption :poke:

Think on the upside, your car is going to feel amazing, you get to love it all over again

My ///M was in for two weeks this summer - right at the peak of the hot weather as well. I was given a Peugeot 107. Now that's a mighty come down. It took most of the two weeks to get it up to 70mph. On the plus side, I saved a bunch on fuel!

Just my opinion - in case anyone has a go!

I had one as a loan car and I hated it too. In a strange twist it was actually a one series that we were looking at when Guiseley realised we could get a zed instead for 'similar' money ( bloke logic not sure how close they were in reality).

I'm so glad we got the zed instead.

That would at least mean I could park in supermarket car parks without worrying, in fact park anywhere knowing it will be there when I get back and I wouldn't care in what condition. :D

Y'all could put me in a KIA SOUL to address that! Another car I couldn't give a pants about but at least I'd have SOUL... oh dear... it's all going south now...

Looking for a work hack, I tried a 1 series (118d new shape) and found it dull dull dull.
Sat in a 120 d sport in the showroom and it was a much nicer place to be. Nicer seats, dash trim, etcetc, all off the options list I suppose, but made a difference.
Figures didn't work though so off to the SEAT garage I trudged. :|

The F20 m sport has seriously grown on me of late. The 135i would be special enough for me I think.

Saying that, a bloke at my work took delivery of the MK7 Golf GTI. Have to say, it's a smart motor indeed.

This is supposed to be a car enthusiasts forum and you all bang on about bloody interiors! Who gives a f*** if its made of plastic. I buy 'em to drive 'em not stroke the dashboard!! Most of you hardly do any miles anyway so why do you crave cosseting environments so much? It's the same 'bee oh double ell oh see kay es' as the clunk when you shut a door. Engineered in to make you feel like you're buying something of quality.

As far as I'm concerned the less luxurious the interior the better because the lighter the car will be.

People go on about the Golf. It's the dullest car ever invented. Ok, not quite, the Toyota Avensis and Mitsubishi Charisma beat it, just. In fact I almost fall asleep just talking about the Golf...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'll remove my tongue from my cheek now.... :D

Each to their own. Golf GTI is an attractive option IMHO, when you're comparing to the 1 series.

Tim.

Now I like the look of that Tim. Much prefer the E87 shape to the current startled cat look and the additions you made seem to work really well. What model was this and how much would something like this go for (mid mileage)? Thinking of replacing my MK4 Golf next year at some point and this would be on top of my list, along with a newer 4 door Golf GT/GTI.

Sorry for the slight thread hijack Maniac. Your 116 experience does sound pretty woeful.
